  1. Funny how the figures are never published tho are they? And to be fair if a firm is dependant on two weeks a year income that not really the best business plan is is? Time to stop romanticising the event and get true figures as in how much Gov subsidising /inconvenience and needless loss of life but caveat “doing what they loved”. Why should taxpayer subsidise a selfish hobby
  2. I think sadly usual apathy and tiredness comes into play. Personally after battling for months over a balance which o dispute and they really can’t explain you just end up paying up to get on an even track cos it’s too mentally exhausting. They are a monopoly and no one in Gov will ever challenge them and so it goes on with everything in Gov - push down line and it will go e away eventually
  3. To be fair Blade Runner has a point the entertainment worked brilliantly on the prom in years gone by and should stayed that way.
  4. And some aren’t - work hard and are not on inflated salaries.
  5. how about those who have moved from private sector to public for first time in life. Not the land of milk and honey. Poor salary in comparison. Maybe in times gone by but not in recent years
  6. Sadly accurate portrayal and we either have to stop it or just get used to it or try to reduce the deaths in some way. I just worry that we are getting desensitised to this like we are to so many other horrific events going on at moment. When does it stop being a sport? I know the competitors make there own choices just think would be more comfortable with it if it were run by people who understood it rather than the government run over commercialised event it has become. Take it back 20 or 30 years when TT was more true to its roots. Gov have created a monster which will destroy itself
  7. yes of course they do but not in the same numbers and maybe not sponsored by the Gov taking selfies of themselves in shades with celebrities and prob no idea of what is happening out on track
  8. I just hate that whatever the circumstances pretty sure they never envisaged this and certainly didn’t deserve to end their days this way. What worries me is that blame is being shifted on them to deflect from five additional deaths and the cold hard fact that this is an outdated and over commercialised event to which we are all becoming desensitised to cos the show must go on.
  9. The fact is this was a horrific incident - what is concerning I feel from recent posts is that they were stupid if they allegedly switched tags and being implied it was their fault. Almost trying to justify it and the usual “nothing to see here”
  10. Non believer is correct a different and sensible approach is needed
  11. I am well aware of them and you really can’t compare to Rossi. Different ball game and circumstances- maybe just all the deaths aren’t worth it for “entertainment “ which is what it is. Maybe it’s had its day and time to change and adapt. Hate how all those “that have passed” will be forgotten next year. Maybe hang something on Fairy Bridge - maybe time to know when something has run it’s course before something apprendible comes which is coming when most of spectators crammed into one place
  12. Work for one of the largest employees on IOM. DFE Hmm?
  13. Not that many of them? How many ?
  14. Forgive me if I am wrong but majority of big fish here you don’t here much about for rest of year ? Maybe the adulation here too much to refuse.? Where are the big names these days? Or even the younger new blood to keep the interest going? What sport have 50 year old blokes highlighting except where no competition?
