We've got a beautiful Power Station and an even nicer Incinerator. I wish people would be more thankful. True, the Power Station does look like an Opera House as was mentioned by Peter Karran in the House of Keys. But beauty does not come cheap you know. And don't forget, all that money that has been spent (hundreds of £millions) by the MEA goes back into the economy such as to people who sell BMWs and Cruises and Caribbean holidays and what have you. And I must say that I have seen some pretty fancy footware like those big pointy ended shoes which cost a bomb but were only in fashion for a matter of weeks and even the Red Cross can't get rid of them.

..and, if past experience is anything to go by, would have/will run rings around a Deemster.

Wealthy people engaging in risky business stacks up alright. In general in these sort of matters, sailing close to the wind and beyond is the thrill. Why do lawyers lie in court, why do bankers take massive risks? They need that kick. And even though they are millionaires - greed knows no bounds.

I think it was a former CM's wife who was rumoured to have said that if she goes down the whole pack of cards go down with her. And there were many a neck saved when it was decided not to proceed with the trial of the Savings and Investment Bank all those not too many years ago. I think those who dabble in murky waters call it an insurance policy.

In our democratic society there is at least some control of the police. The judiciary however, and their associated civil servants, are an absolute law unto themselves. They really can do whatever they like, providing of course they don't cause too much attention from the outside world (especially UK Government), which takes one hell of a lot of doing.

Surely no one reads manxforums while they are at work anyway.

I saw Unisol in Ramsey the other day. Driving a pretty groovy car with an equally pretty groovy young lady in the passenger seat. edited to add It seems that Ramsey is a popular location for manxforum members.

I haven't spotted them yet, but at I understand from the TT Death Sweepstakes thread that at 430 on Mad Sunday there will be some forum members new and old, having a bit of a get together down on Laaaxey Beach.

I had a good look round Mission's shop - sorry I didn't have time to introduce myself as you were serving folk. Nice shop though and it makes our trip to Ramsey well worthwhile coming back with all the stationary goodies!
