  1. It appeared to everyone but yourself that you were insinuating that Dr Glover couldn’t do anything to assist, but that “it was good PR” and nothing else.
  2. I’m sure the government would be open to letting her company use their previously known genomics results if they really wanted to make use of her offer?
  3. Hmmmm....wonder if HQ/DA et al have responded yet....
  4. The poster didn’t ‘simply’ say that though?
  5. Of which, you have heard one side direct from the horses mouth, but are going to have to wait months it seems for the other side to get their story (stories?) all together (if at all). Yet it seems that you already take the side of that which has not yet been brought into the open?
  6. Only taking certain items. Check the website to see if yours applies, else they refuse you entry.
  7. Especially when Howard is talking about “severe action against rule breakers” in the media https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/covid-rule-breakers-should-expect-severe-action-says-chief-minister/ but ‘misunderstandings’ by people connected to the government? Why...people have told him that there shouldn’t be investigations or charges brought. This whole swimming saga has handed Howard a convenient smokescreen to put time inbetween any uproar over the SP directive fiasco.
  8. Those figures were from ‘just’ last week according to the news reports I read.
  9. Seven are positive cases according to the latest news, and a further 42 are having to isolate. Sounds pretty likely that there is either a lack of safety protocol, or else the protocol hasn’t been adhered to in the correct manner? All a simple misunderstanding though by all concerned, nothing to see here. Lessons learnt and all that.
  10. Because we’re the international gold standard for bus procurement and testing? Long buses, short buses, mini buses, bendy buses, single deckers, double deckers...if there’s a new version out, put us down for at least 25 (per year).
  11. Agreed. But perhaps we wouldn’t be discussing about the ‘spirit’ of rules if they were clear, concise and well communicated in the first place. Apart from the inherent possibility of danger and thus the potential usage of emergency services/Nobles at this time, I’d presume the paraglide would argue it’s his/her form of exercise as per any local fisherman being allowed to pursue their hobby.
  12. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/paragliding-rules-unclear-after-person-spotted-in-ramsey/ rules unclear? No shit.
  13. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/two-in-cells-overnight-after-covid-offence-arrests/ wonder if these will turn out to be ‘simple misunderstandings’, or whether Jurby awaits the miscreants?
  14. It’s ‘advised’ to stay at home... (I believe- could well be proven wrong if anyone could show me the legislation otherwise!)
  15. I agree. But as I’ve said, it’s purely advisory, and people of differing opinions, morals, thoughts etc use their own discretion in the absence of set rules and regulations. ‘Advice’ isn’t worth the paper it’s written on if there’s nothing to back it up with.
  16. People are allowed to drive elsewhere for exercise. Plus the whole ‘essential journeys only’ is merely advisory?
  17. You can sit in the sunken gardens on Douglas Prom. Beware the pothole landmines whilst making your way there though.
  18. Makes sense. We could’ve set up some tents at the Bowl and the like here. Good open area, good access etc.
  19. Don’t tell me that a former DIY shop could deal with the whole of the IOM population?! Lol!! It’s probably the same size (or less!) than Chester St shoprite. however...the point being made was the expenditure on converting the buildings into such centres.
  20. Temporary facilities... which have been built in a permanent manner... in order to ensure yet further costs will be necessary... to return the buildings to the usual usage (as an airport for instance).
  21. Pretty much. If the UK can ‘set up shop’ in churches, town halls, a garden, a DIY store, museums etc, a front lounge wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility. Although it’d mean we’d then have to try and spend that £373k someplace else I guess... https://www.england.nhs.uk/2021/01/more-than-30-new-vaccination-centres-join-biggest-nhs-jab-drive/ “NHS staff will start delivering life-saving Covid vaccinations at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, a former DIY store and the museum where BBC hit Peaky Blinders was filmed today.”
