i was astonished at people winging in Tescos at the checkout staff about the lack of stuff. i think most sane people put occassional shortages as part and parcel of living on an island.

How about some kind of arrangement whereby the Mannannan is transferred to a "not for profit" national shipping firm with the express purpose of running the fast-craft services; this could be funded by a "freight levy" on both companies; therefore allowing competition, allowing the steam-packet to off-load it's non-profitable services and all freight companies paying their fair share towards the passenger services?

Hi, don't post often - but thought I'd put my view forward for once. My view is simple; as an island nation we REQUIRE an affordable regular passenger service. This should never (nor can it be) at risk due to economic factors. We require it as the lifeline of the island. It is not for the steam packet to make idle threats about this essential servie. Either the steam packet can provide it; or another solution would have to be found (even if it's nationaising the fast-craft services in the summer). The steam packet has a regulated monopoly; if they try and abuse this they should lose that monopoly. Take the fast-craft sailings off them and tear up the user agreement. Reliable, affordable and regular passenger services are essential for our island; they should be maintained at any cost. Idle threats are irrelevant and unhelpful.

why do you need it delivered when you can just pull up at Tynwald Pet Centre with ample free parking and they'll carry all big sacks out to the car for you. Not that I work there at all.... Would you be the nice man who helped me with advice on sealing an earthenware planter and sold me a pump to make a small pond? If you are: thank you, the plan worked well, but we will see what happens in winter! nah not me. i don't know anything much about the ponds! I'm the hairy part time guy.
