  1. people like her is whats up with this world today.
  2. pfft kids these days, id never waste money on food at a festival
  3. Dr McDonald donated land and paid for the construction of the new Sulby School. There must be other examples..... probably.... Didnt the late owner of Mezaron its self donate nearly a million quid to the hospice building?
  4. Im sure its been said a million times before but anyway, If the prices for vehicles and passengers do rise too much I just wont use the SP unless the trip was unavoidable. I probably make around 12 trips per year at the moment although at peak times the prices can be a bit steep, on the whole im fairly happy with the service and price,
  5. Maybe with timber and bulky materials, but with building comes tradesmen and there vehicles/vans i think people underestimate just how much of our things arrive on the boat.
  6. But those figures are from 2006 when the island was in the middle of a massive building boom with most of the materials and vehicles plant coming on the packet ships. not quite the same scenario now is it?
  7. He should buy an iPad and give up on dead trees. Maybe a daft question and I am prepared to be ridiculed! Why cant the papers be printed locally? We have the IOM Newspapers so what is stopping them doing it (after contract negotiation). Would seem more 21st Century to me? Shipping/ flying such a bulky/ heavy low cost product every day seems wrong on all sorts of levels to me. Nice idea but where do they get the paper from? The Forestry Board or what ever they call themselves now have a lot of trees that only seem to produce fence posts for the Forestry Board!! and farmers i.e. low value products not building timber. I have no idea what it would cost to set up a small paper mill but that could be an answer? A paper mill for the islands news papers? You were correct it was a daft question.

  9. i know of one firm that does that, and keeps going because of it JCK by any chance?
  10. As much as i get mad at the prices sometimes charged on the S-P remember how we all used to 'diss' manx airlines before they went, would we really want the same to happen on the sea?
  11. If you have ever had the misfortune to deal with the freight office you would know that they speak and treat you loads worse.
  12. Ooooooer! Time to start sweating - if you are Australian and just about to claim your pension. That said, I suspect without a rival passenger service, there's only two people that will ending up paying the real price for all this - you and me. . that really is the big issue here as far as the general public is concerned. Its ok saying yahoo for mezeron for comp but at the end of the day is your shopping going to be any cheeper because it get shipped by mezeron?
