  3. Pretty much agree @2112. Since i sent letters out to the oft, IoME and the bank, as explained many pages back, I have had action from the bank and to a certain extent IoME, but nothing from the oft. IoME were adament that the meter reading was an actual reading (3100) so I was to pay it immediately. (It is currently 3002.) I told them I will pay it when my meter reads 3100 or when the bill is corrected. Since then, there has been an estimated bill of 3178 and a total "owed"is £511.49. As I say, the reading now, 4 months later is 3002. And the OFT is silent.

I had just over £350 taken from my account on Wednesday. On Thursday I wrote to my bank asking for a refund under the DD guarentee and cc'd in Iom Energy and the OFT. It's took me overdrawn and I'm fuming.

The latest on this farce.... On Wednesday I received my Gas bill, dated 29th December, with an 'actual' reading which was approximately 200 units above my current meter reading. Yesterday I got my direct debit refunded in full. Today I cancelled my direct debit. From now on it'll be a cheque stapled to a cover letter.

  5. As a Merchandise Replenishment Operative in a local supermarket, may I say that the bbe dates are usually quite long.  I don't drink now, but when I did, I never had beer out of date, usually because I drank the stuff on the day of purchase. Just to be on the safe side, buy from the front because stock rotation is a myth as it's all computorized ordering nowadays.

Up North on a farm/land would be grand. After Montreal (studies), Houston (work), Toronto (work)...I've had my fill of "city convenience". And yes, I have lived in a small town...professional school was in Kingston, Ontario (similar population to IOM...and come to think of it...brutal winters being on the water's edge). I'm all set (famous last words).

    It's 'Down North.' Good luck.
