  1. Braddan have announced. 36.5% increase
  2. It depends on what the rateable value of your property is. The average rateable value is 116 - this is what I’ve used for the calculations. It looks like your bungalow will have a higher rateable value.
  3. The 2024/25 cost of the golf course is in the estimates on the website. Here's a snippet from the published estimates so it looks like the subsidy has decreased from £148k in 2015/16 to £45k in 2024/25.
  4. No that's not how it works. Each Local Authority sets their own rate but only Braddan, Douglas and Onchan collect their own rates. All other Local Authorities have their rates collected by IOM Government (so only one Rate Demand - whereas Braddan, Douglas and Onchan residents get two). The Treasury also collects their own rates and have set their rate at 555 in the pound which equates to £643.80. Therefore a typical property in Douglas will be paying £664.68 plus £643.80 = £1,308.48. A typical property in Onchan will pay £476.76 plus £643.80 - £1,120.56
  5. I thought Braddan haven't announced theirs yet - do you mean Onchan?
  6. I think I might look a bit silly shouting at an empty building.
  7. I've heard that rumour - not so random
  8. I can't find that Portofino has an alcohol licence - anyone know what's happening here? Is it closed for good?
  9. Sorry - water and sewerage rates are £500.54 (due to increase from April but this has not yet been announced).
  10. The Castletown calculations are for just the Local Authority portion. Full rates will be £614.96 (Local Authority) plus £500.54 (this is the rate for 22/23 as they have not yet announced the rate for 23/24), so a total of £1,115.50.
  11. Your Port Erin Rate Demand would have included the water & sewerage rates, but the local authority portion would be only part of the whole demand. Douglas, Onchan and Braddan residents get the joy of two Rate Demands
  12. The average house in Castletown will be 116 x 3.56 = £412.96 plus the waste charge (for each household) of £202, so the annual charge for 23/24 will be £614.96 - significantly higher than Douglas
  13. The average house is classed as having a rateable value of 116 - so in Douglas for next year, the annual rates will be 116 time 5.09 = £590.44. It really depends on the rateable value.
