  1. Accidents happen unfortunately and that road looks to narrow for the bus, it can’t be easy driving them things especially through our villages On a lighter note I used a bus the other day for the first time in a long while, the driver who seem to have a foreign accent was very jolly and very helpful a proper customer experience, unlike some of his larger wedged in there cab colleagues who seem to have a permanent scowl on there faces.
  2. On the first sighting of the Ben lying of PSM bay after her maiden voyage to many years ago to remember, my first thoughts were They’ve bought a pup? well they proved me wrong she’s giving outstanding service down the years with her engines rarely ever getting cold. now she’s a tired old lady needing more and more upkeep to keep her going in the Irish Sea which can be a unforgiving place, a new vessel is needed sooner rather than later. my worry this time is the iom gov have more than top trumped it’s own department that bought that choo choo fiasco ( hit it out of the park) by tens of millions though as before I could be wrong again but this time I don’t think so.
  3. My own unimportant opinion for what it’s worth on the ladies coverage itv4 and radio tt is Jodie and Christy (who both seem very nice individuals) seem more than a little wooden and are not up to speed about the races but can only improve as it’s there first go, ( if they get a second go?) Jo Pack who has bags of confidence laced with enthusiasm who seems a bit of a marmite type of person on here is actually doing a very good job I think irrespective of whether you like her or not The music is the same old same old stuff they dredge out of the cellar that’ll be Brindles picks following the decades old formula and why it’s not shifted to fm when listening figures must sky rocket for a couple of weeks is a mystery. Kinleys got better over the years doing the morning chat show with some interesting guests and his double act in pits with Palmer is also good and informative. Just keep Milky n Johnny away with there infantile banter, Chris Williams does a good turn over the fortnight as does Chris Boyd who seems the most professional always cool and calm he’d make a good anchorman. feel free everyone to disagree.
  4. Chris norman still can belt out a tune has he ever done a solo gig here or ever been approached to I’d certainly go to see him.
  5. Not sure if these have been mentioned there was Saxon at psm stone field tent, ocean colour scene at summerland , the spinners at the old villa never forgot the haunting Ellan Vannin echoing around the hall and locally talented Joe public with Frank Magee on vocals at the cave his version of Talking heads psycho killer was class. Went to see Human league expected to be disappointed but they were top draw, best cover band seen had to be Talons did a great take on Don Henley.
  6. Paul Thomson also lived in psm renting a house from the late Ronnie Aldrich many years ago and he was a proper decent humble guy with no big time Charlie attitude about him at all.
  7. If I’ve got time to listen I like stu’s talking heads programme it serves a good purpose for people venting there anger or opinion on what’s right or wrong with our island, other manx radio programmes with exception of news, mandate, sport ,tt coverage, I can take or leave, usually leave, then I’ll flick between rte 2, energy or 3 fm have no loyalty to any one station. some of the manx radio specialist late night programmes I visualise being listened to by a handful of people in there semi dark room with a big old grandfather clock tick tick tick ticking away. Did manage to listen to a couple of programmes that Louise Quirke did, when filling in on the afternoon programme she did about Island characters which was excellent. Manx radio does serve a purpose but needs some of the fat trimming to get costs down possible starting at management level. Bring back Stu Lowe a proper dj or Mike Reynolds who I always thought had a great radio voice not like today’s shouty giggling kids we have now but it could just be me who hasn’t moved with the times.
  8. Every busines that’s struggling will blame it on brexit but businesses come and go, the big high street shops are fighting for a ever decreasing market with the internet shopping breaking there backs along with ridiculously high rents. A lot of some of the larger companies employ cheap european labour on minimum wages of course they don’t want brexit and Merkel isn’t the force she was and the undeniable unsavoury fact is the nationalists or the far right parties are gaining ground throughout Europe, Europe has to change too before its to late.
  9. Gawne will never win a bye election in rushen again in my opinion and I think both watterson and Skelly need to jump upstairs if they want to stay in politics before next election, jack carter won’t like this but i reckon if scampi Hampton starts his campaign early he will be a shoe in, also kemp wasn’t that far behind add one or two decent newbies and old guard will be toast.
  10. As long as she doesn’t spend the entire programme talking about her kids (women today) but if she puts her political head on there’s no better interviewer at manx radio.
  11. It all depends on getting the right balance and quality, being a free house helps. if you take the Shore at Gansey it was also dying a slow death until new owners came in and did it there way now its buzzing. Have to admit there are not many characters in the landlord trade these days and I remember okells when it was 28p a pint and drinkable in most pubs , now those were the days.
