Yeah fuck the economy! Whats it ever done for us! Apart from feed, house and clothe us. Provide us with jobs, free health care, benefits for the poorest in society, allowed free education and grants to allow further study. But apart from that what has the economy done for us?

The big thing that irks me regarding the Afghanistan coverage is the fact that the victories, however small, are never reported. A few months back a smallish troop of Marines raided a heroin factory several armed "insurgents" killed a few tons of heroin seized and destroyed, children working as effective slaves returned to their families, not one injury to the British forces. Millions of pounds worth of drugs stopped from getting to the streets, and a large chunk of funding for the "insurgences" removed. Although I am still confused how you can be an insurgent in your own country.

Not likely right now when half compete apartments sites have been put on ice because there's no market for em. Although given the importance and size of the site any development would probably need a year or two for design, planning, and building regs, on top of a couple of years build so starting the ball rolling now might not be a bad idea if they wanted to go that route of course. May integrate leisure facilities in the lower floors and accommodation above.
