another example of just how mental the Japanese really are
How the hell do you get out if you're in the middle?

watched Chicago and Moulin Rouge on Friday night, thouroughly enjoyed both of them, moulin rouge was especially good!
-
watched Taxi Driver last nite for the first time...yeah liked it, although it did make NYC of the 70's look like it was just chock full of whores, junkies and peep-shows
-
only saw this the other day for the first time...

We watched The Life of Brian on Saturday night. Who knows how many times I have seen that film but it always manages to make me LOL, even the lad at 8 appreciated some of the comedy, the subtleties were lost, but he enjoyed it. Not bad for a film that is nearly 30 years old.
How weird I watched that the other nite as well...absolutely brilliant film.
Also watched March of the Penguins, a real gem of a movie ( well documentary ), some very funny moments ( the female pengiuns having a punch up ) and some quiet poignant ones as well ( watching an animal mourn the death of a chick was touching )...
-
watched "little miss sunshine" last nite and was surprised by how good it was, some laugh out load moments ( the final scenes at the beauty pagent were cringe worthy )...well worth a watch if you're looking for some light comedy, the star of the film is definately the little girl.
-
watched the Abyss ( special edition ) last nite, what a corker of a movie...
-
the japanese are more than a little strange...but they do make some of the funniest TV in the world...

haha the eagle is great, just kinda walks along the floor and then decides, nope not today...
-
ok so it's not off youtube but I figured this was the place to post this little gem...
timelapse film of the Reno Hot Air Balloon Race...keep your eyes open for Jesus Christ!
-
watched Hot Fuzz last nite, great fun movie ( gotta love the death scene at the church ), not as good as shawn of the dead but very enjoyable nontheless...
edited to add.
it was on a proper DVD I rented
-
watched " Labrinth " last nite, the one with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly...great fun I'd forgotten how great it was, the bog of eternal stench still makes me laugh!
-
watched Severance the other nite, was OK...filmed on the IOM with Danny Dyer playing his typical drug-taking cockney...a bit gory and not much of a story but entertaining enough
-
watched City of God last nite, absolutely brilliant film, all about the gangs living in and around Rio! pretty start and violent ( especially watching kids shoot other kids ), but fantastic acting ( I believe real street kids were used for some of the roles ). Based on a true story...Right up there with the best ganster movies IMHO.
-
Watched Billabong Odessey last nite, seen it a few times now and it still has the ability to blow me away...easily one of the greatest surf movies ever made ( more documentary than movie )...These boys just don't surf waves they're out there looking for the biggest waves in the world to surf! Stunning!
-
wathced " The Prestige " last nite, Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as a pair of rival illusionists, great story with some pretty interesting twists and turns. Well worth a watch....Oh yeah Scarlette Johanssen is in it as well!
-
Watched Ju-On ( The Grudge ) last nite, absolutely brilliant! Something about japanese horror movies being able to freak you out so much more than the usual hollywood drivel ( including the remake of this move )...Got the second one on order from LoveFilm so fingers crossed for more of the same!
-
watched Renaissance over the weekend, very stylish but all in all a very dull and overly long movie...
-
watched Borat last nite, very very funny in places and completely cringe-worthy in others, although it does contain one of the funniest fight scenes ever committed to film....
-
I finally saw Shaun of the Dead for the first time the other night ---- don't know why it took me so long --- but fan-fookin-tastic! Looking forward to seeing Hot Fuzz.....
Hey, K.o.s Theory ---- I didn't think the Amazon DVD scheme covered the Island......have they finally included us?
Yep dames it looks lilke we're now covered by the rental, it's great ( much better than the lovefilm rental scheme ). I'm using it to catch up on all the old HK kung fu movies. Watched Project A ( jackie chan ) and Millionaires Express ( Sammo Hung ) last nite, 2 absolute crackers. Both full of amazing fight scenes and very funny physical comedy.
-
300... Well worth a watch ile give it 9/10 blood thirsty though.
Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C.
Looks amazing on the trailers....not much chance of it hitting IOM cinemas though I would imagine...wait for DVD...AGAIN!!!
hopefully broadway cinema will have the balls to bring it over, unfortunately it's released in the Uk at the same time as spiderman 3 and shrek the third ( which the palace will no doubt be showing )...read some reviews and seen the trailers, looks fantastic and very true to the graphic novel
-
joined the Amazon dvd rental scheme the other day and thanks to that have re-ignited by love of old Jackie Chan movies ( before he sold out and moved to Hollywood )....
Watched "Wheels on Meals" last nite, absolutely brilliant fun ( ignore the plot it doesn't really matter that much ) if you're a fan of the genre this was the period when JC and his films shone
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheels_on_Meals
Armour of God for me tonite!

watched The Host last nite, a quality Korean monster movie with a suprising amount comedy thrown in ( the grieving scene was hilarious but I dont' know how intentional it was supposed to be ), well worth a watch if you're looking for something a little different.

watched 300 last nite, pretty enjoyable. Not as gory as I expected it to be though
