A St John’s man has admitted causing death by dangerous driving. Appearing at Douglas courthouse, 30-year-old Donovan Kitching pleaded guilty to causing the death of Gwen Valentine. The 62-year-old from Winchester was walking on the Tholt-y-Will Road on April 26 when she was struck by a vehicle. Kitching, who has also admitted possessing drugs, driving while disqualified and without insurance, will be sentenced on October 23.

Manannan fixed, and returning to Douglas The Manannan has been fixed. Problems with her engines last night led to the cancellation of the sailing from Merseyside, and today's journey to Belfast. Specialists were brought in this morning to take a look at the electronic management systems, which it was thought were being affected by one of the engines not running at the moment. The vessel left Liverpool around 12.30pm.

I was cycling along a pavement earlier this evening when a woman pulled out of her drive very abruptly and stopped with the nose of her car just in the road. I had to apply my brakes and stop, but I didn't mind. However she started gesticulating at me in a frenzied way. I think she was suggesting that I should be on the road. She had road rage without even being on the road! Very funny. I smiled at her and then she felt a bit foolish I think.
