  1. The airport is still a 'dirty' area though and lots of opportunity for cross-contamination. The contact tracing procedures will be right on it though and when the virus returns (ie brought over) to the Isle of Man the authorities will know exactly where it came from etc
  2. In Strand Street this afternoon, there was a group of lads on their pushibikes all wearing brightly coloured masks. They are a de facto fashion accessory these days. Covid or non-Covid.
  3. Laxey has been flooding since the mines were working and before. Like Shore Road in Kirk Michael, and The Mill Race in Sulby, with Glen Road the clue is in the name.

    Fancy a pint?

I know people who "only drink single malt whiskey". Then dilute it half and half with water, and then drink it in gulps.
  5. No meaning to be personal to Teapot, but it is a good point. There is a lot of people who seem to have acquired the understandable habit of the occasional bottle of wine or whatever during the lock down. It's one aspect of lock down that some people rather enjoyed and are holding onto.
  6. I mean no disrespect, but it is possible you are the road designer and you meant it to be like that but the guys on site laying out the road didn't read the drawing right. The traffic from the Grandstand needs to give way/priority to traffic from Victoria Road. It just needs a roundabout - as there used to be, but moved a bit. There may be a perfectly good reason why this wasn't done, I dunno, but at present it is the most horrendous junction on the Isle of Man bar none.
  7. Trying to get to Onchan from top of Victoria Road is a nightmare. I note some traffic from Grandstand is voluntarily giving way to Victoria Road traffic just to keep the traffic flowing. Surely the roundabout arrangement should have been left more-or-less in place on the lines of:
  8. Sorry for the 'sole' thing (now corrected) I must have been thinking of HM. CT has a lot of making up to do. (Robertshaw has shot his bolt and no going back and he knows it, he has the rest of his life to ponder on what he did.)
  9. Good post. Thomas has shown that same as just about every other politician or candidate that ever stood, he is buyable. And will happily get into the CoMin bed. £10k pa for your soul seems a bit cheap to me, but I suppose there is the ego to consider. But aye, he's back with the plebs now, I hope he can now do some good work on the backbenches.
  10. Watch live: https://www.manxradio.com/on-air/watch-live/manx-radio-vision/
  11. Ah, this will answer the question why there are two tracks.
  12. To be fair, it is the Isle of Man and we have a history of just accepting anyone with loads of money, no questions asked, and giving them a so-called fresh start. Personally I would rather live off spuds and herring than take their dirty money, but what can you do, but I suppose we have to survive.
  13. But that is why they take it. For a few hours they are king of the world, well in their own addled mind anyway. They are still rsoles from the outside.
  14. Well done Chris Thomas for asking about the contact tracing system. Manx Radio A few months overdue, it has taken too long for someone to question it.
  15. Hah! And if the Arrow packs up, no problem to me ya suckers, I have a whole cupboard full of er, toilet rolls
  16. Andy knows which side his bread is buttered and likes to have his ego massaged in return too. Incidentally, I see Manx Radio have now started to do the South Douglas by-election. Fair enough I suppose, they have not given it election overload as might have been the case in previous years when adults were in charge. (I would point out a minor inaccuracy in the reporting, in that there has previously been a by-election where 2 seats were available in a constituency, as mentioned in the relevant thread on the forum)
  17. Named now. Turns out I know him. I would occasionally have a chat in the pub. Not that he has Covid-19 or anything I am sure, but you know, it's nice to know. (JW) There is most certainly a parallel justice system run on the Island. Usually in the form of the Isle of Man police who can effectively override the rest of the justice system. Happy to explain. Maybe best by PM (They know where I live..).
  18. No, not clear at all. He just reckons the law doesn't apply to him, on this. He's no more difficult or piss-headed than many 100s of folk on this Island. Make that 1000s. He has a responsible job and likes a beer. Ends a Facebook message with the pandemic inspired and now ubiquitous parting phrase "stay safe". An irony if ever there was one. Anyway, I'm taking his seat in Quids for the next few weeks.
  19. http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=57252&headline=Man broke quarantine and went to the pub&sectionIs=NEWS&searchyear=2020&fbclid=IwAR1A2b0VCUXsE6WY3WoddAKITk1BBTZGcLsAwC0Z5fMxqjXlhmtaQu3EQMc
  20. Apologies if this is the case, but even so, the circumstances etc need to be known And even though the Isle of Man practices effectively secret/parallel laws and courts (yes John boy, it does) it has to be a rare occurrence to withhold a name.
  21. What is this total bollox? How to fluff out a scant report. This isn't even tautology, it's just repetition. At least 3fm thought of using the word 'pensioner', even though it was wrong. How is this an example? No, not being fucking nosey, just we need to know. Who is the guy? Where does he live? What were the circumstances?
  22. Posted this evening: What can be said? ETA: Actually, it is not too bad. He's a pensioner: From 3fm Pensioner jailed for defying coronavirus rules Still not named though. I would have thought that in such a matter naming the person was of utmost importance
  23. Andy Wint with Lawrence Skelly on Mannn Line just now. How is it that so many people apparently text in with such obsequious questions and remarks all of a sudden now Andy Wint is running the shop?
