  1. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51206425 "Britain will not back down over the introduction of a new tax on large American tech firms, Chancellor Sajid Javid has told a meeting in Davos. The US said it would consider retaliatory levies on UK car makers if the measure goes ahead. The new tax is aimed at firms that do a lot of business in the UK but don't pay taxes based on the size of their sales, including Google, Amazon and Facebook. France this week agreed to suspend a similar measure. French officials said they would wait to see if a multilateral solution could be found over the course of this year before it levied the tax. The US had threatened to impose new levies on French exports of wine, cheese and handbags."
  2. Bringing the matter back to the thread: It is language like that (displayed by some posters) which makes it hard to separate Brexit from the grubbier under tones it brought with it.
  3. "Jews will not replace us" was chanted loudly and repeatedly at the rally. Hate speech? Check Encourage hatred of Jewish People? Check Other chants recorded on video: One people, one nation, end immigration White lives matter Blood and soil All slogans of the white supremacist movement.
  4. Hmmm incitement to hatred, in the US (where the video is from): "Article 369 of the Criminal Code, titled 'Incitement to hatred or discrimination', prohibits hate speech directed against a group of persons. The offense carries a punishment of 6 months to 3 years' imprisonment, or a fine."
  5. Again, another one of those "so much to unpack" posts... Pure speculation and wishful thinking. The very essence of the Brexit refferendum. At this point, its hard to be surprised when you sound like an EDL rally... So chances are you'll be long gone before the true nature of Brexit hits home. You've had your piece of the pie, pissed on the rest and walked away from the table. Like the "hero" Tommy Robinson? Again, you are sound more and more like an EDL rally in full swing. You mean the real reason for Brexit...to avoid the EUs plan for tougher tax rules that would hit the likes of Johnson, Mogg and their pay masters?
  6. Like I said, freedom of speech is not freedom of consequences.
  7. White supremacists shouting anti-jewish slogans while exercising their "free speech"? I would say it was bang on the money.
  8. You mean the event that will have decades lasting repercussions on the state of the country affecting millions if not billions of lives? Not that you care giving how old you claim to be...
  9. Take your blinkers off you twit. The Tech Tax would have brought billions back into the economy. This had nothing to do with the EU.
  10. If we were remaining in the EU, we could have formed a cohesive group with the other EU members to push back against the US with regards to Tech Tax. Now we are going to be isolated, we'll be much easier to be coerced on by the US.
  11. For some reason I don't think the swastika sporting, sieg heil salute waving nazis that are coming out of the wood work are Labour voters. Plus, it has been shown that the "anti-semitism" smear campaign against the Labour party is just that. Strange how no-one is really talking about it now post election. What a strange co-incidence...
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51201750 "The UK has been told to "hold fire" on a new tax on big technology firms planned for April. The OECD said that there needs to be a global agreement on technology company tax. Without such an agreement, there would be the risk of "a cacophony" with countries going their own way. The warning came as France agreed to delay a new tax on multinational technology firms after an angry response from Washington." We'll get the best deals from America...honest...
  13. You mean a society where racists, xenophobes, homophobes, etc kept their hateful bile to themselves. Yes, what a mess indeed. But the the demagogues Trump and Farage came along and made such qualities "okay" again, and now we have neo-nazis walking around telling us about the "jewish problem" and running people down in the streets. What are you opinions on Tikki torches?
  14. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.
  15. Difference is, those people probably know to keep their hateful opinions to themselves.
  16. Its 18 to buy buy I believe you can still smoke over 16. Possible I was thinking of the lottery.
  17. Old enough to join the forces and smoke, they aren't children and therefore should be old enough to vote.
  18. The Rog character plays the "I'm Jewish" schtick, but can't see the irony of demonising a particular section of society, wanting to change the laws of the land to restrict and hinder that section of society...thin end of the wedge stuff
  19. You wanted to stake the deck in your favour. Those under 30 were shown to vote more for Remain than Leave. By removing their ability to vote in Brexit would have increase the share of votes in one direction. Those under 30 are also more likely to vote against Leave because they have grown up with the current situation and are more likely to not what their rights taken away from them.
  20. Small thoughts from a small man. The world is bigger than Norfolk (I should know I lived in Norfolk for 5 years)
  21. Yet, you were enabled to meet those people and work in those places because of the freedom of movement.
  22. You so would say that the EU has had a positive effect on your livelihood and general life experience?
