  1. Far as recall - there’s never been a B737 tow bar on island. When that aircraft type has visited, it’s always remote parked - or used the stands at end of pier. Was this airframe brought in to take the backlog of freight?
  2. This evening’s LGW already showing a delay. Is the NATO exercise over Germany still ongoing? Poor show if the delay gets worse and EZY OPS don’t do anything about it. Ie swap aircraft around. Most recent airline I worked for, had a flight with 6:45pm departure. However the aircraft operating it was scheduled coming in from Amsterdam and usually hit with ATC slots. So to ensure the customers on this busy 6:45pm flight weren’t always inconvenienced all the time, Ops would swap aircraft around so this particular route wasn’t racing against curfew at destination airport. Maybe would be good if EZY did nightstop a aircraft here? Crew and aircraft overnight on island and operate IOM - LGW. Whilst same time a new aircraft and crew operate LGW-IOM-LPL-IOM ( crew then get off to hotel for early duty in morning) Fresh crew board aircraft and operate IOM-BFS-IOM-MAN-IOM-LGW - whilst at same time another aircraft and crew after doing previous sectors and nightstop in IOM. They already nightstop in INV, SSH amongst others. Now looks ‘should’ be back on time. Delay leaving Turin back to LGW then heading down to ALC and back.
  3. Friend who lives there has heard multiple stabbings by someone on a E-scooter
  4. See the Logan Liverpool & Manchester delayed already in the morning.
  5. And Bermuda as well it seems has been suffering delays/ cancellations as well https://www.royalgazette.com/transport/news/article/20230603/planes-bound-for-bermuda-diverted-and-delayed/?fbclid=PAAaZJLmqiWJjGWjDlZaCeMJ0Zd1k3IFXvv9YA_hD_WWrCk-vHMMvJL2jsyEI
  6. Believe that maybe a travel agent cancelling ticket. I have friends going the opposite way on those dates. No email regarding cancellations
  7. Drone activity over LGW, flights starting to divert to STN, LHR, LTN etc.. hopefully won’t affect this evenings IOM that much 🤞🏻
  8. She as a degree in airport and airline management, plus experience working in customer facing roles at a London airport, ronaldsway and in a Operations department for a airline.
  9. Closed 31st March 2014. Crews from mainly Manchester & Birmingham operated flights/ overnighted in hotels. Re-Opened as a crew base April 2019 ( roughly) Was due to close at end of March 2020 as a crew base. Only reopened the once.
  10. flybe are due to load new routes with Newquay now showing on the destinations page and others such as Isle of Man showing in slots - changes to come Taken from a aviation blogger on Twitter
  11. Ahhhh ok - I mean almost 20 years since worked on the ground for Manx/ BA.. then as crew for flybe. So things changed since then lol! But seem to remember back in the day it wasn’t allowed - want to say wasn’t insured to drive around with passengers in the back. Anyway fingers crossed it’s just a short delay for you tonight.. have a good flight!
  12. Are you sure? They never drove the ambulift with pax onboard from the terminal when I worked at Ronaldsway International
  13. I’m sure there’s something that they can’t drive on apron with passengers in it. Don’t quote me on that, I know there’s one or two airports where they aren’t allowed to do it etc. I remember when the departure lounge was opened in the 90’s.. the gates were built with option of an air bridge to be added at a later date if aircraft type permitted. Certainly would make boarding those with reduced mobility a bit more easier experience. Granted no use on the Logan aircraft. But definitely for the EMB170/ A319/320 etc
  14. Amsterdam Schipol is now asking airlines to cut flights by 30% for summer. And it’s not just EZY - TUI are having a bad time of it as well ( obviously they don’t fly to IOM). But as been mentioned many a time - so many staff were let go. They have moved on, found better paid jobs, with 9-5, no working weekends/ bank holidays etc. Working in the industry isn’t how it used to be.
  15. If Jurby did become the main aerial gateway to the island, what would you do with Ronaldsway? Turn it into a aviation museum? A nature reserve/ park - like Berlin Templehof? Keep it as an active airfield? Or sell the land to Dandara …
  16. After boarding is completed the Dispatcher ( one in charge of the loading of passengers & bags) will get on and inform the Cabin Manager how many have made it through the gate etc. For example.. gate closed you are looking for 48. Crew will then perform headcount and confirm with dispatcher. Amount of people who ‘no-show’ is least one on every flight it seems
  17. This! Couldn’t have said it better myself.
  18. Loganwhere we were all calling them in departure lounge one time.
  19. Have to admit Logan’s on time performance few months back was poor. Resorted to having to use Easy recently, but now LHR is re-starting will definitely give that a go as that will be so much easier to get to work. Did Flybe suffer operational difficulties- of course! But least they handled disruption better.
  20. New Flybe website is live. No routes for IOM
  21. Some of their first routes have been leaked online. BHX-JER BHX-BHD BHD-CWL BHD-NCL BHD-LPL As it stands, nothing for Ronaldsway International at the moment. My understanding, there’ will be an official announcement on Monday, with full list of routes to be initially served. So have to wait until then if IOM will appear on their route map.
  22. I appreciate that, and i didn’t mean for my reply to say you did’nt. All I was trying to say, they always do the best they can. But as they are already down in numbers with so many off sick/ left the business and apparent recruitment freeze - they can only do their best. Dosent help sometimes the actual airport isn’t big enough to handle so many airbus aircraft at same time or sometimes just one. That arrivals tunnel is just a pain in the **** Beggars belief that on a Friday teatime in the summer, EasyJet have scheduled 3 flights to depart ronaldsway at the same time. Madness!
  23. Menzies are not at all ramped up. Quite a few on long term sick or have left. And from what I’m hearing there is a freeze on recruitment to replace those who have gone. In my past professional experience the guys & gals down there at Menzies, go above and beyond for the airlines they serve to the best of their ability. Last night for example - the EZY LPL was running late and needed to be airborne by certain time before the airport shut, the Menzies team got the aircraft safely and professionally out with a full load of passengers, in 22 minutes. Keep up the good work down there guys and gals!
