Non-Believer
Count Lorenze I think it was, hypnotist extraordinaire and a seasonal regular at the Villa in the 70s and early 80s. Actually lived in Ramsey. Latterly famous for his Mannin Line contributions. Including, IIRC, that sex offenders should be castrated with a rusty tin lid

We have none now they have all passed away. Looking back a couple of decades just shows up how boring society and local "life" has become these days. I hope that isn't just me getting older, but I remember so many real charismatic people then, but can't name any now. That is sad.

Indeed, not many characters left although I'd say Ramsey has been better than the rest of the island on that front for the last 30 years or so. parchedpeas
http://www.audiocontentfund.org.uk/ A better model for the outdated grant we give to one radio station. It would not see the end of Manx Radio, it would just put the money towards developing a wealth of easily accessible Manx content, handed down from one generation to the next. Instead of subsidising Phil Collins records. The Audio Content Fund is a new scheme supported by the UK Government to provide funding for original radio and audio production. It exists to provide financial support for radio programming that is difficult to fund on a commercial basis. In 2019 it will invite applications from audio production companies planning to make content for UK radio broadcasters. Applications will be assessed by an independent panel of experts and judged against a set of agreed evaluation criteria. The Audio Content Fund is a not-for-profit company supported by a grant from the UK Government’s Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Further details and specific guidance on how to apply will be available in early 2019.
