While we're on the subject of old arcade games, can anyone remember what the football game was called that they had in the leisure. It was a glass table one which you looked down on and you controlled it by spinning a bal. I think it was possibly World cup or something like that

I remember this one as well , might be the one your looking for

Tekhan World Cup , that was the best football game ever

That's the one, cheers.

as you say the best football game ever, and one i was actually good at.

Just wish i could buy one of them for the house.

You can play it on your PC using MAME. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.)

Not used MAME for a while , had thousands of roms on my old pc , I believe you can purchase mame cabinets from eBay and the like with thousands of games on in an arcade cabinet

Would love one of those , perhaps I could get one in the shop

Still won't be as good as the real thing, controlling it by spinning the ball with the palm of your hand

Using the mouse does a reasonably good job of simulating the trackball (Marble Madness springs to mind).

Possibly but there is no way you could recreate that game properly unless you actually had the table cabinet, that was what made it so good.
