Lxxx Posted August 14, 2013 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Have to give a mention to The Whitestone pub in Ballasalla. Since under new ownership the food is top drawer and at reasonable prices too. It went so far downhill over the past 18 months we stopped going altogether but with a new chef and menu they've really upped their game. Decent sized portions, good quality menu and pub prices too, not restaurant ones like many similar establishments around the island. Two adults and a kids meal, with drinks, £32. Trueblood Posted August 26, 2013 Share Posted August 26, 2013 my son has worked as a bar man/waiter whilst back from University for the last 3 managers/owners and has said on several occasions that the current owners are by far the best that he has worked under due to many reasons such as they are friendly but very serious when it comes to doing a good job at the same time. Always busy for evening meals and always a great atmosphere with a variety of different dishes on the menu. will definately be checking out The Whitestone in the near future! We go in every week now as the food, service and prices are spot on. Even simple things like at seat service for drinks while you are eating, something the last owners clearly thought was unnecessary, is a nice touch and a change from the usual IoM laziness.Nice Specials board too. The staff are always good and the service was quick enough, but the food quality is nothing compared to what we have had on several occasions over the last few years. We have had some beautiful meals there and it was a shock to encounter the quality of the meals today. I hope it is a one off. We all have our bad days. We will try again though.
