Removing The Classic Logon Prompt

Recommended Posts

I recently installed the .net Framework software as its needed for a couple of programs I use, and its activated the Classic Logon box for when I boot up Windows (XP Pro).

I can switch back to the Welcome screen instead, but before I installed the .net Framework software, I could just switch my computer on and it would load up completely, right to the desktop.

How do I revert back to that setting?

If you go to user accounts... advanced settings... remove the 'control alt delete' log on selection what happens then?

When I was googling for some info on this yesterday a couple of websites said to click the Advanced button in User Accounts.. I dont appear to have an Advanced button?

I've attached a screenshot of my User Accounts page.

start - run - gpedit.msc

Then navigate to

Computer configuration\administrative templates\system\logon

Check the values in there (specifically always use classic logon). The autologon is a registry hack which can be activated by using TweakUI or suchlike. (as ans said)

Thanks, I've now got it back to booting up to the desktop. Still would be nice to know if it could be changed back completely though, to how it was originally.
