Seeing as you brought the fact that the post was reported by you into the public domain, these are exactly the kind of reports that we generally don't act on. We are not the taste police. What you find offensive, is largely irrelevant I'm afraid. Our job is to act on reports that may have potential legal consequences, and as much as you would like to think so, poor taste isn't in that class. Over half the reports we get are people complaining about other people saying things that they consider to be offensive. Our own personal view and moral compass doesn't come into it, and sometimes we might agree, but we're not going to do anything about it. It's just a waste of our time quite honestly.

Surely there's a 10 day limit on results based insults?

Ok, looks like there's some progress that isn't going to involve a risky dump and rebuild.

For those who don't know, we're trying to update via Twitter. https://twitter.com/manxforums Basically a database table containing all the MF posts ever has fallen into a corrupt state. Due to the size, normal recovery methods aren't having much effect so I'm now looking into dumping the data out and rebuilding it from an extract. Obviously that's quite drastic and it's proper shit-the-bed type stuff as one error and it's all gone. I don't know how current our backups are right now, Uni does that stuff, so I'm going with the assumption that I need to get this right first time. So, the blogs module uses a different table than posts so all being well this should appear and hopefully either direct people to the Twitter, or at least understand it's being worked on. It's a lovely day outside, go get some fresh air.

I kinda like HS, played a couple of ranked games now and started to build some custom decks and I'm starting to get the strategies (never played a TGC before). It's a bit slow for me though as a PC game, I feel like I'm spending too much time waiting for things to happen. I know it's coming to tablets though so when it does I think it's going to be an enormous timesink for me. It's the kind of thing that's perfect for large screen mobile gaming.

If a contractor delivered three months ahead to me I'd be questioning whether their initial quote was inflated. You hire a plumber who tell you a job will take seven days and charges you for seven days but completes in four, you're telling me you don't query it? Can we do business sometime?

Apparently not, according to Chairman Ans, who wants complete state control of all information so the public are only told what they 'need' to know. As someone who is no stranger to the report button to tell us what they think about what others say, I find your contrarian position difficult to reconcile. Seems to me that when you don't know something, the urge to find out consumes you and when you do, you're terrified of becoming less special when everyone else finds out. Also, you're a dickhead.

No idea, I have an active account in WoW that I still dabble with. Maybe that's why. As you might remember, I quit back in Dec 09 and didn't touch the game until back end of last year when I was housebound for three months. In the time I was away, it's actually become super casual friendly in that you tool around using automated matchmaking for Raids, meaning you can dip in and out to do a wing of a raid instance in less than an hour at any time of the day. There's no way I could return to a proper guild raiding schedule, but ad hoc raids when I feel like it? Sure. They even do cross realm groupings now meaning you're not limited to the people on your home realm so the fact that Runetotem is low pop isn't a big deal. The missus started playing a few months ago too and that's been fun levelling up a couple of toons together slowly. Most of my own entertainment comes from soloing old content for giggles and redundant loot though. I'm still trying to get the Ashes of A'lar every week (57 kills and counting grr) but there's absolutely no commitment for anything outside of what I can be arsed to do. That suits me. There's still plenty of lunatics that give up all their free time to it, but you don't have to do that anymore unless you want the absolute best gear around.

I got a Hearthstone beta a while back. I think it might make a good tablet game (I gather iOS is soon and Android is later) but it really didn't grab me at all on a PC.
