You can get HID conversion kits for about £100 which offer a better boost than just some different bulbs. Depending on your DIY skills you might have to get a garage to fit them however. x-in-man
You may be able to purchase them OK, but fitting and using them is another kettle of fish. There are some laws regards retro fitting different lamp system, LED for Halogen, light colour and intensity, auto-level systems for some types blah blah blah. Also will your wiring/relays handle the extra power? What about the headlight material handle any extra power and light? Are the bulbs E marked.. the list can be endless. The UK MoT laws generally treat aftermarket HID conversions as illegal, unless orig. equipment - so there may be insurance issues with them here. If you feel your headlights are crap along the prom, they ain't. It's the special lighting fitted along the entire length of the prom that sucks all the surrounding light up and hides it where no one can find it. Car headlights included. It may be your lenses need a cut and polish, you old existing lamps are just old and yellowing, out of alignment or fog up inside when used.

The Douglas prom lighting is the 'left alone to do it' plan given to a 4 year old. It is not that which is based on for the benefit of tourism, or more importantly safety, ALL YEAR ROUND for us local folk. It actually makes the prom dark, dreary and dangerous. Once again though, no one admits to it being their idea, or their rational behind it.....on £50 - 60,000 a year! SNAFU.

They do fade with use and age. OSRAM Nightbreakers are often a good, and legal, drop-in replacement which offer more light output, at expense of shortened life. leon12
there's some good HID kits that i used, that will give you twice the light output.
