  1. So what is this insight you have into the idiocy of Tesco?
  2. It's not just a short journey. It's an extremely lightly loaded one, passenger wise, for much of the year. That makes a difference.
  3. Perfect analogy. Congratulations. It was indeed just as predictable as the tide coming in. The only thing you missed was the idiot on the sideline insisting that in this case the tide wouldn't come in because of the special "club culture" at Liverpool". I never knew Canute's followers were scousers. I see they were airing the dirty linen on the touchline yesterday with Mo and Clippety squaring up to each other. And you said the wheels wouldn't come off.
  4. You really are like a dog with a bone on this. They always charged us a little more than in the UK, and now, I agree, they are charging us a bit more besides. Previously we paid consistently approx 2% more for the past 5 years here than when we bought the same items in the UK, and we do this regularly. Now it's consistently about 3%, so a penny in the pound more now than before the acquisition. That may worsen of course. It's too soon to say. Yes, this includes price matches and Clubcard offers - but that's what shoppers do as a matter of course without going out of their way to buy things they otherwise wouldn't. The offers are on standard popular fmcg items. So Tesco being a competitive offer "at the time" has not changed that much. One whole percent. Shoprite were not ripping us off on the basis of extracting massive profits. Not in recent years, anyway. They were very expensive though, simply because they didn't have the critical mass to be as efficient as the likes of Tesco. Their Tesco price matches may well have matched a few branded lines, but what they didn't tell you was that there were several just as good, but much cheaper, options on offer at Tesco.
  5. How can they misread the market when they have Shoprite's books open before them? And when are you going to tell us what you "have to deal with from these idiots every day" so that we have some justification for the continual bile you post about Tesco. Do you work for them or for someone who provides a service to them?
  6. Clickbait article. The monarch's funeral plans are dusted off and revised throughout each reign.
  7. Of course. It's the government.
  8. Fancy asking the miserable bastards here what it's like. They should have asked actual tourists about their experience.
  9. Don't see that as being so bad. They're everywhere, so you could say we're doing well in rooting out the ones that are here.......
  10. You might want to rephrase this. The dummkopf appear to have hold of the wrong end of the stick.
  11. I'm convinced that some of you are misunderstanding this. They aren't filming private areas of the toilets where bodily functions are taking place.
  12. Our share has been rising very healthily since the previous cut, well above inflation, so it isn't like you can say it's a continuing theme from back then. Of course past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future, and we cannot know what happens behind closed doors. The VAT surveys are part of the FERSA method of calculating the share, and date back to the 2016 revision of the agreement, so this aspect is nothing new.
  13. You're dissembling now. I said the wheels would come off and they have. OK, so they are a little dense, and it took the news some time to penetrate.

He does it to get a reaction. He'll grow out of it.

They used to be in Felton's store didn't they? Seem to remember the Looney name over that one.
  16. Ah, so we pay for all the services in a series of hypothecated taxes so that the plain old income tax can be spent solely on the government bureaucracy? Good plan.
  17. If enough people say it will, then it will. If we let them think that this is what we expect then why wouldn't they give us just that?
  18. Yes, that's odd too. 28% seemed low to me. VAT and common duties associated with the Customs Agreement are back up to around £440m now. If that's 28% then the total income of Government would be over £1.5bn, but it's only barely over a billion. They do have some fanciful projections in the coming years of it being £1.3bn+, but projections are much easier to make than to achieve. The agreement is not to be tinkered with lightly.
  19. Totally predictable, and I did so on here. Same mistake Fergie made on his first "retirement". Players mentally down tools. I said back in the thread he should have kept his powder dry until much nearer the end of the season. I got some absolute nonsense from Scouse fans saying it's a different culture at Liverpool than it is at United, and the players are at one with the fans and the spirit of the club. Yeah, right. Looks like it.
  20. Not disgusting at all. Just in communal areas. Nothing unusual or untoward.
  21. There's a possibility the sun might not rise tomorrow but it seems pretty unlikely. They'd have to be nuts. I know they are nuts, but to do that would be bat shit crazy.
  22. Our problem is the cost of the bloated government bureaucracy.

Maybe he'd just looked at the profit and loss.
  24. No, I think you should. Show us where we've been going wrong by pandering to the rich and the finance sector. I haven't seen you come up with any great ideas up to now. If you think the current economy doesn't provide us with a living, it will be illuminating to discover what kind of living we have after taking your medicine.
