  4. I'd like to see one CS per person and they get assigned to us from birth. First name terms and we get to see them every day for a natter. What a great selling point for the Isle of Man.

  10. Cold showers are a great health benefit. Think positive.
  11. Why celebrate holding someone prisoner for a year with a bust at all? Kurt would probably be like "Er, thanks but no thanks."
  12. Yeah I've seen it too in agile companies. The big problem was the trend back in the 90's of making everyone a 'manager' to fool them into thinking they were getting promoted. Middle management can make teams act like they're wading through treacle as you deal with petty egos. The civil service is rife with middle management, hence the problems.
  13. True, it's a human trait. However I repeat, for success hire people better than you. As Steve Jobs said: "It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do."
  14. A few years ago I met a guy from DFE, when we were trying to get some investment connections. Young, switched on and had great vision leading his team. We came out of meetings suitably impressed and like a breath of fresh air were bullish about some of the future plans he was talking about. 6 months later he took a similar role in the UK, ousted here because of silo mentality, couldn't get anything done nimbly and because he had good ideas was getting ostracized by entrenched people that he was outshining. You should always hire people and teams who are better than you and let them at it. Too many in Government don't want people better than them, thinking it will make them look bad. The Isle of Man is a perfect test bed with potential quick law changes, a self-contained jurisdiction and good population size to lead in lots of new tech ideas. Just lacks vision from being a bit too top-heavy and apathetic. We're maybe too far gone and the initiative should have been 20 years ago.
  15. Sorry, my bad you confused me by starting another DBC thread specifically about the prom.
  16. We're not going to remove the seaweed we're going to put up signs instead telling you which types of stinking, decomposing seaweed you can smell. 🤣 "The report said in 'certain' weather conditions like high winds, it's washed back into 'Zone B' of the beach and left to decompose leaving a bad smell. The council confirmed it won't be removing vegetation but will instead install signs to 'educate' beach users on the different types of native flora and fauna." https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/douglas-beach-re-profiling-to-have-an-experimental-intensive-approach/
  17. Nah, I'd have taken the Yacht as well, more fun.
  18. Maybe recreational drugs should be thought of in the same way. Tell your friends when you're next in the station.
  19. Used to listen to a few Breakbeat mixes on her show. She was one of the great DJs for new music, there won't be many that follow in her footsteps.
  20. Richard didn't 'leave The Claremont to work in The British', he's been running his own Chef consultancy and private hire business since 2022, part of that consultancy is taking on the British. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084787844362
  21. I take it literally, sort of an IQ thing.
