  1. I don't think she's batshit crazy. But I equally wouldn't want her fighting my corner. I'd want Stephen Fry or Morgan Freeman. Even those of us on manxforums defending Stu (or at least criticising cancel-culture and leftist extremism) are probably not doing him any favours.
  2. IMHO it was murder. But, as mentioned, pushing for first degree might be difficult to win. Can you imagine the riots if he gets off?
  3. It's not just sucking up. If you're a yoof and you DIDN'T post a BLM black square on your instagram, you risk becoming a pariah. The left does not allow dissent.
  4. Or enjoying the fruits of (say) the Chinese economy while ignoring genuine human rights abuses. Then again, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get a "Like" on FaceBook for #uyghurlivesmatter because no fucker on there would know what you meant.
  5. Sad to see how patronising you are. You really do believe that them folks can't think for theyselfs. Maybe they can, and have arrived at a different conclusion to you? Maybe there are nuances you're unaware of? Or their life experiences aren't what CNN have told you?
  6. Stu's point (I believe) was: if you're having a BLM protest on the Isle of Man, what is your demand? If you can't pose that question without being branded a racist and being suspended from your job then tolerance is dead. What will the demands be? Anyone know?
  7. I agree that the laughing was wrong. But I bet if you get the transcript and do a word count, all of the callers talked more than he did with only unsubstantiated rhetoric as their argument.
  8. I've listened to it (and I'll never get those minutes back ) I'm sure he could have worded a few things better. Maybe next time he should get a focus group to ratify every single word and inflection? But he said nothing particularly wrong and bent over backwards to be polite and accommodating. He just didn't 100% agree. It's pathetic how intolerant our society has become that he'll be made to suffer. Agreeing 99% is not good enough for the woke generation. It's 100% or you'll pay the price. #ReinstateStuPeters
  9. True, there are some "lightly used" roads between the MER stations in Douglas and Ramsey. You can easily turn a 12.6 mile hilly ride into a 19.9 mile super-hilly* ride by taking the "scenic" route! You don't cycle much, do you? * 2,100 feet of climbing vs 1,053 feet (source:google maps) I actually think it's a good idea. I doubt that hardcore racers/riders will use it (too narrow for their speed). But as a way to encourage cycling as a form of transport and generally improve the nations health, it's an excellent idea. Fewer cars on the road, better health...all good.
  10. Yeah. His trolling was the issue (is my sarcasm up to your standards?)

    Jobs

Now you've said it, it seems so bloody obvious. Parts of the public sector are overflowing with under utilised staff (accruing pension benefits) and the private sector is desperate for 'em....
  12. No. They spent it. On people in the government, government suppliers and even made a few special government friends very wealthy. The Film Fund was always just a "clever" scam. Or not so clever as it back fired. We've lost far, far more than we ever gained. I thought it was interesting that Alf now refers to Reserves in their Gross figure (£1.6b ?). When he was leader-of-the-opposition he called Eddie out on their Net position (less than £400m?) However, if he succeeds in only using £30m from reserves next year then he will have slowed the flow (+ £50m development fund of course). As for the common man benefiting from infrastructure, such as? Hospital? Power Station? Prom? The cash bonanza certainly wasn't spent on these.
  13. Out of interest, why arrogant? Why not stupid? Or an adrenaline junkie? Or crazy? Why are cyclists always arrogant whereas bikers are decent, down to earth blokes who just happen to like risking their own (and other people's) lives?
  14. Say there was a 60mph limit up there. Say you knew there were 40 cameras at different invisible location. Say 10 of them were randomly operating at any given time. Finally, say anyone caught breaking the limit by up to 10% got a £500 fine and points, and anyone over 10% immediately lost their license and their vehicle. Do you think that speed limit would work? Just because other countries do things in a certain way does mean we have to. About 8 people would lose their licences until the populace realised it was serious. Then it would work. Like a dream.
  15. Yes. Speed bumps and temporary chicanes.
  16. If the Police allowed rioting and lynching for the same week, every year, I'd probably stay indoors even though I'd have every right to walk down the high street. And maybe the above cyclist got the same rush as the bikers going past her into blind corners at 120+ It HAS to be thrilling knowing death could come at any moment? Each to their own.
  17. So Slim.....still on Teare's side in all this? Apart from Allan Bell, you're Teare's biggest supporter.
  18. I remember distinctly that teare said iomg could say yay or nay on ANY investment. Just say nay!
  19. Which bit in my latest rant did I make up? In which "hat" does Christian NOT get paid: Director of Pinewood, Owner of Gasworks, Producer of XYZ Flop?
  20. Exactly, as I pointed out earlier; he gets a tiny salary compared to the other directors. This contract is effectively his salary. As a PAID Pinewood Director, Steve Christian advises that Gasworks (a company that Steve Christian solely owns) be PAID to advise us. Gasworks then advise us to hire Steve Christian as Producer of "the Cottage"*, another £multi-million flop (surprise, surprise) for which he is PAID. Is that about right?
  21. Exactly, as I pointed out earlier; he gets a tiny salary compared to the other directors. This contract is effectively his salary. So, it's kinda like a Personal Service company that Teare has outlawed over here to prevent unscrupulous people evading NI? Nothing illegal of course, Gasworks isn't a manx company. Go figure.
  22. TT Closer sells for £8 on Amazon. How big can our cut be? 50p? So TT Closer & Belle need to sell 28 million copies to make up our recent £14 million loss. To put it in perspective, "Titanic" was the first ever DVD to sell ONE million copies.
  23. Cheers Slim. Only £10m left? That's how I would read that. Appalling. Of course, future revenues of "Belle" DVD sales might surprise us. I wonder how many millions of people would need to buy a copy for us to recoup our losses?
