  1. Such a scummy and unfair tax on the lower earners And they still won't get there own house in order for cost savings There's shed loads of $hit there they could flush away
  2. Yeah - but it's certain to be more than that for most
  3. So your rateable value has to be £108 or less in order to be in the '70% better off' camp............ Can't be anywhere close to 30% being at or below that value Great way for the Govt. to use the toilet tax to treat the residents like sh*t again and grab more cash under the guise of 'fairer'
  4. This government?? Hoping by the time it's a concern we have a competent one...! Ha
  5. OK if it lapses, what do you envisage will happen then with regard to service, fares etc. A huge mistake last time that IoM Govt made was that they did not include a clause which basically prohibited the agreement and vessels being used as guantees for loans without the govt express approval. Maybe some sort of net asset provision or similar. Basically something to stop the user agreement to be used as a way of getting borrowings so that cash can be striped out It's clearly a profitable route as it's been milked by owners taking a lovely dividend in the past http://www.tynwald.org.im/business/pp/Reports/2009-PP-0093.pdf I have nothing recent but imagine it's a similar scenario. Once the deal expires - have a Government operated service implemented. Any profits can then be used for betterment of the service or the island (or even the damn airport!). Not creamed off to another destination in the world. Costly start up - yes. But long term a better benefit for the island
  6. Let it lapse; they milk it for the shareholders.
  7. Daily transfer of 19p. Reconcile that!
  8. Costs for a 1 bed apartment now with this in a few years £300 Toilet Tax £500 Rates £650 ish Management Fees Chuff owning one. Even as an investment you're kissing goodbye to 3 months of income just paying for it to sit there. Nevermind income tax, mortgage interest and voids. Splash the extra out and get a house or something in else where
  9. Thanks for the work that went into that (even more pleased that it wasn't a stupid question!) I'm even more annoyed that the Bishop voted for than my MHK, Cregeen voting that way. Cregeen obviously used previously being a union man to further his political career and is happy to dump on the poor & vulnerable in society when it suits, but the Bishop should surely have a conscience? When the Chief Minister describes a tax as "unfair", isn't that enough for the Bishop to object, even if he knew the vote would be lost? If the Bishop can't vote on conscience, then what on earth is he there for? No Probs, I was asking too - but found 30 ish minutes spare in my day to do it myself. Just to entertain myself had a little play with strikethrough text on one of the names !

  15. So have we got a confirmed list of who voted for/against this? I'll be honest. I've got no right to an opinion as I've never voted. This though has got me riled up enough to ensure I can vote. And vote against who elected it to go through
  16. Send the dogs! If they'd have gone ahead with the Dog DNA they could have caught us!
  17. Not if you put a false senders address on it.
  18. Median would be a better indicator for salary on the rock I reckon. Also I believe the IOM should be raising there income tax free threshold to be in line with England at the least.
  19. Bring it on Too long have they been complacent, not responding to complaints, severely lacking in customer care etc etc. Give them a stiff run for there money... Can they ship people by containers
  20. Referring to this? "One of the concerns of Tynwald is the annual published profit margins by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, which according to Hansard, are 36% - almost three times the industry standard for ferry companies throughout the world"
