  1. 2 March 2024 sees unsigned Edinburgh Indie band WREST play Peel Centenary. This band have created their success without help from any label or record management. They now sell out all over the UK and much of Europe. Described as by BBC Radio. The band have booked the Barrowlands, Glasgow, themselves in August, and is almost sold out. A testament to the support for their music. A tight 4 piece whose style leans to Frightened Rabbit, The National, Bright Eyes, bears Den, Admiral Fallow,Idlewild and Snow Patrol. Lead singer Stewart Douglas will be playing an acoustic session at Sound Records at 11am 2 March. If you are in store, you are in with a chance of winning a PAIR of tickets to the 7pm show at Peel Centenary Centre. They are ably supported by local singer/songwriter Jamie Blackburn of The Getaways/solo. Remaining tickets ONLY online at: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/triskel/1051453?
  2. So as not to spam too much on this forum I have popped the final two shows by Triskel Promotions in the first quarter of 2024. Posted here, as tickets go on sale Sat 4th Nov 2023 at 10am: WREST are an Edinburgh-based band made up of vocalist and guitarist Stewart Douglas, guitarist Stephen Whipp, bass player Craig Robertson and drummer Jonny Tait. Described as 'alternative rock with a Celtic twang', the band has drawn comparisons to acts such as Frightened Rabbit, Idlewild and SnowPatrol due to their emotionally charged, often melancholic, songs. After releasing debut single 'Adventurers' in 2018 followed by album 'Coward of Us All', the band's fanbase grew rapidly which led to a string of sold-out shows across Scotland. Now able to sell out shows around Europe too, this band have managed to do it entirely without record label support or management. They are also confident of selling out Barrowlands next August 2024, having booked it themselves. Support comes from the inimitable voice of Jamie Blackburn https://www.facebook.com/TheGetawaysUK This is the penultimate Triskel show and promises to be very special indeed. Peel Centenary is a delightfully intimate, warm venue celebrating it's 20th Anniversary. 3. SANTANDER SPLASH 2023 DETAILS The Santander Splash fast approaches for the Southern Dippers. They will have 91 dips under their belt at the end of the day, raising over £69k. Santander International have generously provided main sponsorship for 3 years and without such support, the event would struggle so the organisers are indebted to their backing of this and many other Island-wide community initiatives. It all started with a small group of 7 in a pub and now attract over 250 dippers and hundreds more out to support them. The chosen charity for 2023 is Isle of Man Foodbank, a Manx charity that provides crisis support in the form of food parcels to families and individuals in a time of need. Lenny Conroy, event organiser for Southern Dippers, said: “The Santander Splash is an increasingly popular event which has helped us raise a significant sum for Isle of Man charities. The Isle of Man Foodbank was an obvious charity for us to support this year as many more Isle of Man residents are turning to the facility for support due to the rise cost of living. This year we are asking all dippers to bring an item of food to donate to the Isle of Man Foodbank in hope of helping the charity even further by contributing to the restock of their shelves following the festive period.” Santander Splash times are 10am Chapel Beach then retire to Albert Hotel, 1045am PSM Inner Harbour then retire to Albert Hotel 1130am Gansey Beach then retire to Shore Hotel 1215pm Port Erin Beach with an any theme fancy dress competition followed by thanks and prize presentation at The Bay Hotel. Each beach is sponsored by Financial Options, Macro Metal, Bushys and Santander International. James Geldart, Managing Director, Santander International Isle of Man Branch, said: “We are delighted to support this community event once again. What better way to start 2023 whilst helping raise money and donations for the Isle of Man Food Bank who provide invaluable support in these particularly challenging times. “All funds raised from the Santander Splash 2023 will be going to the Isle of Man Foodbank. Donations are gratefully received, and commemorative T-Shirts will also be available for a donation. All participants enter the sea at their own risk.

Showcasing brand new local Thin Lizzy tribute band BAD REPUTATION. 8. First of all Happy Birthday and secondly-even if it is/was your birthday(which is now probably yesterday!) -if the Govt or whoever gets Supergrass over for TT-are you going to say it was your idea!!! I have to agree that they have more of an all-round appeal. PM and I will tell you some of the suggested bands from the TT Thinktank!
  9. Excellent event-just what we do need I wholly agree. Firstly-where? Secondly who?(I thought Razorlight were simply superb at Glastonbury but who has heard of them here....aside from maybe about 100 dedicated Traf/Douglas musos?) Thirdly how much? Without serious sponsorship, subsidy or incentives getting that many bands on one bill would be expensive. Bear in mind most of that line up are from the south coast of ENGLAND or local. Of course we could tap in to Ireland and the North West no problem but who is brave enough to put on a bill of bands about to or breaking on the off chance? Having been in the position of trying something new and bringing a band on the verge it isnt comfortable when you dont get the support. Fourthly....lets do it!!! but not in TT or middle of winter. Merely a humble opinion...... Oh and I had spoken with one of the Promoters back in June and he originally had Keane and Snow Patrol!!!
