I would much prefer more natural solutions such as rewilding, planting more trees, beavers etc as per Teapot's comments. The beaver project in Cornwall has been an outstanding success.

Amongst the docs on that planning app is an email dated 26 November 2018 stating that: "The works have now been pushed back to next summer we can only carry out the work between July and September due to DEFA fisheries restrictions." So the timing seems right... Makes you wonder? Part of the reason for it also seems to fit (1700471B Officer Report): 2.1 Manx Utilities Authority seek full planning approval for repairs and to reconstruct part of a weir and weir face within the Laxey River. The works are a continuation of the works approved under 15/00502 the include infilling of the existing fish boxes on the weir, installation of 3 groynes with stone infill and a fish passage from the weir to the last of the groynes.

Money laundering is now a great catch all the way the laws have developed following interference over the last few years. I see a lot more people in the papers over the last few weeks caught transporting more than £10k in cash without reporting it (as you are required to do now) being charged under the anti money laundering legislation. It seems to be easier than catching someone doing something to just cite AML legislation and then let them disprove the charge. well... I imagine it'll be the proceeds of crime act that came in 2008/9 that you're really talking about here.... at the end of the day if you have gained your money (cash or bank account) by legitimate means you have nothing to fear from such legislation as you can prove you have the right to have it.... simple really? hmm, what about if you've saved your money over the years in cash under the mattress then? How d'ya prove that one. With these new AML regs the onus is on the alleged money-launderer to DISPROVE that the money was gotten by illegal means. If you can't prove where you got it, then you can't get it back once they confiscate it. That law puts everyone who deals in cash at risk, because these days cash is consdiered a risk! when it was once the only form of currency...

I saw VinnieK in town and cheesemonster2005 is over for Xmas too. I know quite a few on here, mainly the older members from other forums (bill posters, dtcb, sirdick, ans etc), and those I know that don't know me afaik include speckled frost, jagman and thebees seen 2005 about a fair bit too!

I think you should open Sundays....if I knew Ramsey shops were open Sundays I'd go there, working the hours I do I can't get there on Saturdays. Half of douglas is, catch up with the times! Shut monday to compensate or something. ps i realise i'm a little late with this comment

John Barker also played with the school band, ace guitarist, like you say, with class local band walter ego now. think he teaches at QEII now. -Mr Shepstone (I think?) the loony with red braces and patchwork trousers - science -Mr Nolan, my form tutor and the Balla "penfold" puddy mentioned - maths -Mr Elliot, scary french teacher with a hairyness disease -Miss Galbraith who didn't shave her legs so everyone said she was a lesbian - english Mr Heggs - taught me for business studies, had a soft spot for me for some reason & I was the only one who could get away with anything in his class, much to the disgust of my classmates -Miss Yeung - worst teacher ever with such a strong accent (chinese?) and a major speech impediment that I nearly cried when I was put in her set and knew I'd not learn a single extra bit of math that year I also hated vaukins with a passion, fortunately I got my own back on him as my dad knows him (NOT as a friend!) and he told me when vaukins wife left him for a sailor, and I passed it onto everyone at school he was the main reason I didn't stay to do A levels, prick I well remember Mr Oates and his desk rubbing too, also his way of leaning over the girls from behind if we asked a question about our work I was at Balla from around 1988-1994...I think.
