What I heard, the touble was not the slides but were the steps going up to them in that they didn't comply with current regulation as they had too many steps before some sort of landing, therefore they are being remade, which also means the supports need altering.
2. A Class Action by those affected by the flooding against the Goverment is needed.
3. Glad to see they have removed the old sluice gate, that should have been done years ago. It had no real national importance. Next obstruction down the river will be the bridge going into the large stone building which used to house the MER Powerstation.
4. What damage did they cause? The majority of the damage is to the lower glen footpaths and is privately owned.
5. From what I remember, for the Lovejoy episode that was shot on the Isle of Man, the film crew undertook no resoration work of the waterwheel, all they did was nail lengths of timber to it to make it look as if it was shiplap faced and then painted the result dark green. When they pulled the timber off, there were lines of paint left on the original structure which were still showing years later. It would be great to see it restored and maybe a wheel powered generator installed to provide some festoon lighting to the railway. I do think private sponsorship would be the way forward instead of putting the burden on either the rate or tax payers.

7. Just had my Birkenhead sailing on the 31. December changed to a Heysham departure now. Something about lack of staff over the Christmas period.
8. Someone told me the damage was more likely caused by a bad bit of parking, but no one wants to own up to that.
9. Imagine the information that a digital Board must show to compete with the manual board that operates at present. Some races may have over 80 bikes competing in them and races such as the Senior are six laps, there are two scoreboards which duplicate the same information for each side of the Grandstand, the two boards can show around 960 lap times between them, they show what lap each bike is on and where abouts on the course they are. The light above each bikes number lets the riders pit crew know when he's a couple of minutes away from the Grandstand. To duplicate the same in a digital format would cost a fortune. All the present one costs is lunch for the Scouts and a badge to sew on their uniform.
10. Wrong on all counts. Scouting isn't a mililaristic Organisation. In recent years it's being called the largest peace movement in the world. I don't know where you get the thing about dieing for Queen and Country from. Just because members wear a uniform doesn't mean they are ready for war, or does that also apply to every school kid in uniform too? The Scoreboard became a permanent structure quite a few years ago, when what was mostly scaffolding was replaced with box section steel.
11. Doubt it, if the contractor submitted a quotation to do the job within a certain time and they work hard to finish earlier, why should there be a cash saving? There wont be any saving for the Department, but possibly for the contractor.
12. Watched World War Z at the cinema last night. Nothing like the book on which it is meant to be based. Not a bad film though and made me jump a couple of times.
13. Watched the impossible last night. Very good movie, quite graphic in places. If you watch this trailer, you don't need to watch the film, as it tells the whole story.
14. Thought the new Star Trek was very good, better than the first one, in this new series. But I do wish they would stop using the brewery to dipict the engine room of the Enterprise, It just doesn't look right and is far to large. http://brookstonbeerbulletin.com/star-treks-engineering-deck-brewery/
15. The Killer Shadows one was okay-ish, watched it a month or so back. (Vanishing on 7th Street).
16. Last night watched The Divide. Thought it was okay, but was glad when it ended, had to cover my eyes during a few of the gruesome bits.
17. Watched War Horse last night. Was expecting it to be a bit of a weepy, but didn't find it so. Good film though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhueHIXbTF4
18. Watched 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' the other night. Afterwards emailed my sister who has a two year old boy and told her not to watch it. It's a good film, didn't do too well at the box office though, took less than it cost to make.
19. Watched the Avengers last night. Quite a long film, but it never got boring and some funny little moments in it. I would have thought that most of the audience would know by now that this run of films have an extra bit after the main credits, so those who got up and left as soon as the credits started rolling missed out in getting an extra bit of story and a clue of what's going to happen next.
20. Don't you mean three dimensional rather than four?
21. Watched Kill List last night. It got good reviews, but I really didnt think much of it. The other night watched Colombiana which was okay, a bit formulaistic with its girl's parents murdered, girl grows up to be a top assassin and goes after parents killers storyline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD8iRdfbkjM
22. The Butterfly Effect was last nights movie, was going to watch the BAFTA ceremony, but got bored with it after 15 minutes. Really enjoyed the film. Looked it up on Wikipedia afterwards and the version I watched seemed to be the Directors cut, which has a totally different ending to that shown in the cinema.
23. Watched The Devil's Double last night. I don't know how true it was, but it gave an interesting insight into the Iraqi rulers and how they could do what they wanted. The film didn's do very well at the Box Office, but I enjoyed it, bit gory at times.
24. Watched 'The Skin I Live in' last night' Spanish film, didn't know that when I started watching, but stuck with it and glad I did, very good. Twist is in the middle of the film rather than at the end.
