  1. I think I saw that very pink Evoque the other day, with the hyper expensive 2 MANX registration plate on it.
  2. This will be handy for you https://mdc.im/faq/ it says they publish their accounts, so you should find many of their answers in there.
  3. Dane Harrop is the Managing Director, they are based on the Third Floor of 22 - 24 Victoria Street in Douglas. You could always write to him with your questions.

I usually buy from wherever I can get the best value, I'm afraid I don't have much loyalty to a store just because it's 'Manx' owned. I bought a new large TV a while ago. I shopped around and no local store could touch Curry's price. Ordered it online so didn't even bother with the store. Lots of text messages updating me of the progress. Day of delivery, the delivery guys phoned to let me know they were on the way and I nipped home from work, to let them in with the TV, all very easy and stress free. When I bought a new TV for the kitchen recently, again I shopped around, there were a few places that with the model I was after that were actually cheaper than Curry's. I tried their price match promise, but they wouldn't as they said there was no evidence that the retailer had a physical store (you could view it on Google Street View). Walton's were actually £30.00 cheaper than Curry's so I bought it from there.
  5. With my car you can book a service online on the manufacturers website, but when you try and enter an Isle of Man Post Code, it doesn't offer an Isle of Man Service option ,but plenty in the UK, with fixed prices shown. When I went to Motor Mall to book the car in, their prices were around double what any UK dealer was asking for.
  6. Doubt it, I carefully read up on the UK Portal Website and their extensive guidance manual and it clearly stated that as long as VAT was paid on the vehicle, it could be exported out of the UK and still have the Grant.
  7. I went to Motormall / Jacksons a while ago to buy a new car. They offered me the demo model they had in stock, when the salesman opened the boot it was full of his camping equipment. The car was also the previous model and they wanted the same price as a brand new car with the latest updates (main one was the larger info screen). I walked away, phoned up a dealer in Morecombe, agreed a price, they put the car on the ferry about a week later and I picked it up off the ferry. As it was an electric car I also got the UK Government £3k grant.

Wasn't the Littlewoods / Index store the first location on the Island to have an Escalator?

I thought Portofino owned their premises, if they do it can't be the Landlord who is rescuing them.
  10. To be more realistic they need to delete the Scoreboards.

No doubt the men's clothing department will take another hit, they will be down to a single rail soon.

I sent a parcel to the USA through Hermes a couple of years back, they were half the cost of Royal Mail. When it didn't turn up, I contacted them through their web chat, they said it had been lost and there was nothing they could do. I reminded them I had taken out their offered insurance and asked for the £300.00 value of the contents. They soon managed to find it and the customer received his parcel around three weeks later than he should have done.
  13. The Isle of Man, has for years had late night (early morning) chucking out time. Back in the early 80s it was the Palace Lido (Hi-Tec Disco) until around 1am and then into whispers for a couple of hours and if you were lucky some chips on the way home. Only difference back then, no-one was shouting into mobile phones.
  14. They can only recommend, as it's not illegal to use one, but most people would agree that it's irresponsible to use one in such dry weather, even if you are near water. Shame you have to descend to insults.
  15. Maybe, but I'm pretty sure that the Fire Service didn't say if you were near water it's okay then. The fire at Groudle was right next to the river too.
  16. Photo taken Sunday, obviously what the Fire Service are recommending doesn't apply to some people.

I think they have been at their present location now for around three years, they were in Wellington Street prior to this.
  18. I got an order from Amazon Prime yesterday (Monday), ordered Friday.
  19. Wasn't the hosepipe bans not due to lack of water, but the amount of water that could get through the old water treatment plant? When the new treatment plant went live a few years ago, the bans reduced significantly. There's plenty of water in Sulby Reservoir, but it's expensive to pump it over the hills to Injebrek.
  20. You can sort of do this, but you need an account with the Post Office, I print off address labels with the 'Postage Paid' stamp in the corner of the label. Once all packages done, I just enter everything into their Click & Dispatch system. It's a bit clunky, but it does work. Click & Dispatch will also allow direct printing of tracked labels through their system.
  21. Get them to bring in a 2nd Class postal service for parcels, small businesses who sell stuff off Island are paying way over the top for postage compared to competitors in the UK.
  22. Exclusion Order Act Exclusion Orders are still handed out by the courts, you see them mentioned in the papers on a regular basis.
