  1. Arsenal and anyone else who would prefer not to see City or Liverpool win the league. 🙂
  2. Hang on... You said So if the same rules apply in the EU how is the UK model better and why is it causing more problems with paperwork? And to add another question, why is any of this better for the UK?
  3. So, how does the trade deal with Australia fit with this approach? If I recall correctly Australia allows the use of hormones in producing beef. Something the UK hasn't allowed on health grounds. It just seems rather inconsistent and something that hampers small businesses.
  4. @The Voice of Reason small specialist businesses are struggling since these new rules were introduced. Doesn't matter which newspaper you read. If you are happy with mass produced supermarket products then that's fine. More specialist foodstuff is harder to source now.
  5. I thought you read the Guardian? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/mar/09/not-a-sausage-how-latest-post-brexit-checks-have-hit-uk-delis
  6. One step back from closer international collaboration and one step closer to individual nationalism as far as I am concerned. I have the same thoughts about the USA leaving potentially NATO. Look at the MAGA supporters who don't see why they should be interested in the war in Ukraine. That could have been reformed and I would expect to see further reformed in the EU. I do agree that it is not perfect. How are those defence shares? Still rising? I didn't say no one feels better off. I said I haven't encountered anyone who has felt any personal benefit. Of course things are happening globally but wasn't Brexit meant to also control immigration? Wasn't it meant to get rid of bureaucracy and red tape? Can you point to instances of either of those things happening?
  7. So which part of the legislation imposed upon it has it actually scrapped?
  8. And perhaps you could tell me why that vision would be so awful? Anyway, maybe not John Lennon. I prefer the Gene Roddenbury perspective.
  9. I doubt that. The more people like you patronise the young, and I am not lacking in experience, the more I know we will never agree on this topic. I am yet to meet anyone who has benefited directly from Brexit. Net migration hit an all time high in the UK post Brexit. Makes a mockery of "taking back control of our borders". The NHS is still on it's knees despite suggestions (strong suggestions) that Brexit would improve the service. The UK has incorporated almost all EU legislation into its own law. I can't think of anything that has been repealed not even the pillows for kippers (remember Johnson on stage waving around a Manx Kipper?). The UK had a say in EU law. The same way that a constituency MP has a say in UK law. The UK population rarely took those elections seriously though and kept sending UKIP who turned up to enough sittings to claim their salary and expenses but did nothing else beyond being obnoxious. You claim I am idealistic. Maybe I am. Maybe hoping for humanity to work peacefully together is a dream but wouldn't you like to live in a peaceful world? Not one where ethnic cleansing, genocides, and other stupid wars are common place. I suppose though that you enjoy watching the price of your shares in defence companies rise though? Some good news for you whilst other poor innocents die on the receiving end of them.
  10. It is not a case of not wanting to understand nor being incapable of doing so. I rather suspect that part of the reason we cannot agree is firmly routed in generational differences.
  11. Well, looks like another dull F1 season ahead. Only interest might be what happens to Horner after alleged text messages were leaked.
  12. So you object to the UK Government representing the Isle of Man on the global stage? And that the legislation passed in the Island must still receive consent from the Lord of Mann? As much as you won't admit it but the UK does share many ties with Germany and France in particular. Are you going to ignore 1066? How about the fact that French was the language in the Palace for a long time? Even English is full of words borrowed from German and French. I understand what you are trying to say but I think its complete nonsense.
  13. You realise we live in a democracy? I can make my own decisions but those are limited by laws and societal norms. Those are often made via collective decisions. Very poor attempt to explain your point.
  14. @P.K. You know the answer to your question already... @The Voice of Reason and @woolley see the UK gaining "sovereignty" as being worth any price. That includes leaving the single market. Unless something directly impacts them in a negative way you will not get either to concede that Brexit, done in the way it was, was a bad idea.
  15. This seems fitting here.. https://youtu.be/q9-0WGo9Zrk?si=f_85KBV_zzcJ2s-L
  16. We have been over this. I have already pointed out that Brexit was absolutely central to the Tory Party manifesto at the last election. Why do you seem to have an issue with facts? Brexit being such a key issue at that election is one of the reasons why the Tory Party made such inroads into the "red wall" seats. That and Corbyn of course. So, who would you have voted for I the last election? Remember that the Lib Dems and Greens were promising to call off Brexit if they were elected. Reform or UKIP (whatever it was called then) decided not to contest seats against the Tory party. Labour were rather vague on Brexit
  17. Would that be the election which the Tory campaign centred around "Get Brexit Done"? The one that ensured Brexiteers backed them? Well, you have heard of free speech? We are allowed to disagree with the majority vote in the same way you can (claim to) disagree with the Tory Government. The hate and resentment that is being stirred up now is very much at extremes and is based on anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.
  18. Has it ever occurred to you that the people who you follow may actually be the ones with the plan to "de-populate" the world? They are encouraging people to stop taking medications or vaccinations some of which have been proven to work over many years and significantly reduce mortality rates and in some cases eliminate diseases. How do you explain the increased occurrences of measles in the UK population in recent years? Sanitation and 'health' measures have been consistent, if not improving, yet we seen more instances of measles. What has changed then? Well, more people have stopped having the MMR vaccination and those cases are largely in the unvaccinated population. That has opened the door for measles to return and that is a threat to anyone who is immuno-compromised. Once again it is the anti-vaxxers who seem to be the ones pushing for "de-population" and unnecessary deaths and suffering. Ridicule? Maybe. I genuinely feel though that you deserve sympathy as you have fallen for the con. You seem to be on the side of those callous enough to risk the lives of people around the world by spreading falsehoods about vaccines and other medical interventions that actually save lives.
  19. Burden of Proof is on you. If you cannot answer then say so and explain why. I believe you won't answer because you are faced with evidence that damages your world view.
  20. Failed to answer your question and has failed to answer mine. I think both questions are reasonable but neither get a clear and specific response just what feels like smoke and mirrors and being told to do our own research. Well I have done and I cannot come to the same conclusions as Ricardo
  21. So, if not vaccines then what did have an impact? This should be simple and straightforward.
  22. That was not what I asked. I asked what happened to the diseases I listed.
