  1. Yes, all parties should show restraint. I am not just critical of the Israeli Government but Iran has simply used the same justification as Israel did. Iran are claiming "self-defence" following an attack on a consulate by another state. I don't support what Iran did but I can imagine that Tehran felt that not responding would weaken their position in the region. Which rather just illustrates my point... How many wars have been fought over contested territory throughout human history. If you do not want to look at history then point to any country which would be happy to have a piece, or all of it, given away to another people by a foreign power.
  2. @P.K. do you genuinely believe that the Israeli Government has done nothing worthy of criticism in its response to the terrible attack on the 7th October? Even Israel's allies have been calling for restraint both prior to and after the missile and drone attack by Iran. I cannot help but wonder what happened to the aim of rescuing the hostages that were taken on the 7th October. I suspect that they will all have been killed either by Hamas or by the Israeli attacks unless they were somehow evacuated out of Gaza by Hamas. Trying to unpick any of this is a nightmare and unfortunately is the consequence of the decision in the 1940's to gift the Jewish people a new state in an area that people were already living. In the end I don't think it would have mattered where the new state of Israel was created as gifting a country/state where people were already living to another group of people is always going to cause an issue. Look what happened when chunks of land in Northern Ireland were taken from the existing Catholic population and gifted to Presbyterian Scots. How long did it take to resolve that one?
  3. I was not arguing that religious hate crimes/terrorism does not happen. I was pointing out that in the first case at the Sydney mall people, including you, jumped to the conclusion that the attack was carried out my a Muslim extremist without any evidence. Sadly such crimes and attacks happen the world over and are more often linked to gangs, drugs and mental health rather than religious extremism. This latest case does seem like it is driven by religious extremism but it does not validate your prejudices.
  4. As a United fan, I have to say that unfortunately City are a machine.
  5. School shootings in the US? Knife crime in London? Neither are routinely undertaken by the group you are suggesting.
  6. There are sadly plenty of violent attacks with guns and knives around the world everyday that are carried about by people who are not Muslim. You just jumped to a conclusion based on your prejudices.
  7. Uber isn't that great. I tried to get one in Oxfordshire last week. Never found a driver and ended up in a normal cab. Its reliant on having people willing to drive for them. I suspect that would be an issue here
  8. Probably about a few foot square after having been taken from him and crushed.
  9. Let me guess... this is from Guido Fawkes? A right wing blog.
  10. I was talking about advice relating to the purchase and sale of a property. As @John Wright has stated those instances where I have bought and sold property were covered by a contract. What was never written down was the advice I was given by the Solicitor in relation to some aspects of those transactions. Specifically I was asking questions about first time buyer status (I had previously owned a property, sold it, rented somewhere and was then buying). Perhaps I should have had the advice I was given in writing but I did not ask and it was not offered. In relation to the CGT it is not something I have ever had to take advice on. I have had my taxes reviewed once by an Accountant in the past but other than going through the tax return and support documentation the advice was never written down. What seems to be getting lost is that this was 10 years ago. Angela Rayner was not an MP at the time and the transaction whilst significant for her was one that happens throughout the UK on a regular basis without much issue. It probably never crossed her mind to think that in 10 years time she might be Deputy Leader and the Labour Party and on the verge of an election win and that it would therefore be advisable to keep a record of the advice given. The other part that @John Wright may be able to answer is how far back HMRC could go in pursuing this matter? Is it indefinite or is it time bound given that you don't have to retain details normally after a certain time period.
  11. One would assume that he was trying to motivate United... I am sure you remember that Ferguson suggested that Leeds United were "cheating their manager" by raising their game against Manchester United and implying that when they played Newcastle United in the following weeks that they would not play as well. That triggered the "I would love it if we beat them, love it" comment from Keegan. Leeds lost both home and away to Newcastle that season (95/96). I assume that Klopp was aiming for the same vibe but somewhat mixed up the message.
  12. It is well known that there is not much love lost between the Keane & Haaland households. I would back Haaland to score more often than I would back Nunez. I see Klopp has called on the spirit of Sir Alex Ferguson by claiming that Arsenal will easily beat United at Old Trafford when they visit. The funny thing is that I think he was trying to claim that United raise their game and intensity against Liverpool and would not do so against Arsenal. What it actually came out as is that Arsenal are a better team than Liverpool.
  13. Exactly, it is the Daily Mail and according to Dan Hodges (of the Daily Mail) being interviewed this morning the interest is not so much that anything illegal may have taken place but they are aiming to portray her as a hypocrite. They are trying to say that she took advantage of a scheme that allowed the sale of Council Houses and made a financial gain as a result and that having done so she now wishes to prevent anyone else being able to do that by changing the rules around buying Council Houses. In that same interview he said that Angela Rayner was often the Labour Party "attack dog" and cited her calls for Rishi Sunak's tax affairs to be published as yet more evidence she is a hypocrite. The reality is the Daily Mail and the Conservative Party know the situation is desperate and are looking for any opportunity to attack Starmer or Rayner in the hopes that it prevents a total wipe out at the next General Election. (a) That legal advice may never have been committed to writing. I know when I have bought and sold property in the past the legal advice is very rarely confirmed in writing and is often more verbal advice. I have not taken legal advice over tax so I am not 100% certain whether that would be the case there as well. (b) If she has believes she has complied with all the legal requirements why would/should she then hold her hands up and say it was a mistake? Whilst repaying the amount to HMRC may seem like it will put everything to bed it really won't. The Daily Mail will simply use it to say she was "guilty".
  14. I forget which pundit it was (may have been Roy Keane) suggested that Haaland would not be a success at Liverpool as the way the team plays creates a different demand. At Liverpool the No.9 needs to be more involved in link up play, creating opportunities for others and pressing. Things that Haaland is not adept at but that Firminho excelled at.
  15. Wasn't he meant to be better than Haaland?
  16. @The Voice of Reason not sure what your point is. Border crossings between Spain and Gibraltar were always going to be affected by Brexit. 95.9% of Gibraltans voted in favour of remain. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/eu_referendum/results/local/g
  17. On a similar topic I heard someone yesterday (a British Jew) trying to explain that there is a difference between British Jews & Israeli Jews and stating that Israeli Jews are Arabic. Therefore this is a conflict between Arabic peoples. Whilst I have repeated that hear my thoughts were that it was a subject and discussion that I would not want to try and unpick nor an argument I would want to get involved in. That said both Jews and Palestinians claim modern day Israel as their homeland and in terms of religion Jesus is a part of both Judaism and Islam (and of course Christianity).
  18. @P.K. Sorry, I don't accept that explanation. That aid convoy was travelling in a deconflicted area, with approval from the IDF. The vehicles were clearly identifiable and judging by the reports had a means of communication to the IDF. After the first strike and then receiving the message from the convoy that they were under attack why did the IDF not pause? It continued with two more precise attacks. As for the IDF having proof that aid agencies are infiltrated by Hamas and/or their supporters when can we expect to see this evidence? I thought it was just UNWRA that was allegations were made against or has that now been extended to every single aid agency? Sounds rather convenient for a Government that is allegedly on the verge of committing genocide according to the ICJ. The UK & USA need to stop providing arms to the Israeli Government now. Even the Israeli people appear to believe that their Government has gone to far. What more will it take for you to think the same?
  19. Do you not see the contradiction? If Hamas deliberately put civilians in harms way then those same civilians are not "perfectly mobile". They will potentially be as much hostages of Hamas as those who were taken from Israel. By the way, what has happened to rescuing those hostages? It sounds less and less like a "fog of war" fuckup the more comes into the press. The Guardian, referring to the Israeli daily Haaretz are reporting; "According to the report, an Israeli drone fired three missiles, one after the other, at the convoy of three armoured cars – all of which were clearly marked on the roof and sides with the WCK’s logo – because of a suspicion that an armed militant was travelling with them. Despite the fact that the suspect did not leave the warehouse with the rest of the group, the cars were hit as they travelled back along a route pre-approved and coordinated with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). A Hermes 450 drone struck one car, causing some of the passengers to abandon it and switch to the other two vehicles. According to Haaretz, the team notified the IDF they had been attacked, but another missile then hit the second car. Passengers in the third car tried to help the wounded, the newspaper said. According to the Guardian’s geolocation of the strikes, the last car was hit by a third missile about a mile farther south." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/02/charities-halt-gaza-operations-after-israeli-drones-kill-aid-workers Just let that sink in... The first vehicle is hit, the team notify the IDF that they had been attacked and then the IDF strike the second car. People in the third car try to help the wounded before a third missile hits. I heard this morning that 196 aid workers have been killed in Gaza (that Guardian report says 200) and is reportedly three time as high as the death toll recorded in any other single conflict in a year. You were telling us all how the IDF are highly trained, can strike with incredible accuracy and yet you seem to want to dismiss this incident as "fog of war"?!
  20. Those kids aren't the right race or religion though...
  21. It's a massive fuckup... How did the IDF precision target aid vehicles in a deconflicted zone on a predetermined route which the IDF had been informed about? Cock-up over conspiracy sure but this is one almighty cock-up.
