  1. For anyone interested, this links directly to recent posts in the other thread: https://www.manxforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/70539-banning-traffic-from-towns/page/10/#comments
  2. The Port Soderick Herald Posted 6 hours ago Unlikely the one I’ve seen seems to be of his own BMW i3 parked illegally in a pedestrian zone.
  3. Interesting behaviour by DBC's Mr Councillor Frank Schuengel (aka Amadeus and co-moderator of these forums) Amadeus (Frank Schuengel) Veteran: Read as far as “unelected”. You’re on mute now. Bye. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cassie2: 21 minutes ago, Amadeus said: Read as far as “unelected”. You’re on mute now. Bye. Is that also a democratic German style thing or what? You are the long-serving and Senior Admin of Local supposed Discussion Forums but you seem to not be cut out for that role. Maybe you have real mental issues and if so that should be addressed in your own best interests.

  5. But you did park there. So you, a DBC Councillor (although unelected by any ratepayers) and as such one of just 12 representative of the people of Douglas admit that you know that a traffic order for that area is already in place but nonetheless you think that exploiting any loophole is just fine. What a lovely representative of the people. How very nice. Is that also how its done in Germany - you and fellow German Falk Horning have compared Germany very favourably to here in regard to other matters such as recycling and refuse collections so pray do tell us all just how far you (1/6th of the entire Douglas Council) wish to see this lovely island and its society further 'Germanised'? Or better still, try and accept that you have many more detractors than supporters and just shut the f**k up. I know what I think of all of your bullsh*t.
  6. You are right. I am not remotely interested in anything that someone like you says. Nothing at all. I'll repost here a recent post by Karel Ver Elst the Admin of: https://www.facebook.com/groups/940207443613790 Karel Ver Elst Admin ....I would love to send the Council the list but doing so will effectively bring a close to the petition and it remains one of the few avenues whereby residents can voice their opposition. Although about 2000 people have signed, this represents less than 10% of the population of Douglas. When I speak to people randomly I know that the majority are appalled by the halving in the frequency of general waste collections. Moreover, the council can easily view the numbers on the online petition themselves. It is not up to them to dictate the format and manner in which opposition can be expressed. Most importantly, even though most people wouldn’t mind their name being disclosed to the Council, I am acutely aware that many people who have signed are concerned that they may be victimised as a result. Many of the petitioners work for the council or are dependent on the Council for housing. It would not be fair to them to disclose their personal particulars to a Council that is largely unelected (the leader of the Council got in with zero votes and many of the others with just a few hundred votes). This Council has shown that it does not care about the residents and is driven purely by the ideology of a very small minority. They are more than happy to use all the money of the residents to further their own objectives with little or no regard for the residents.
  7. The evil (for that is what it is) is far more deep seated than that of course Manxman1234. Immodestly, I am going to quote myself from much higher up this thread yesterday: ''Douglas Borough Council (DBC) is all too often very much anti the public whom they are meant to be there to represent...... The local people as consumers always seem to hold absolutely no relevance, no importance and no interest to Douglas Borough Council................... Far too often they are arrogant, smug, incompetent and unfit for purpose organisations - as virtually everyone knows except apparently themselves. Or maybe they do know but just don't give a sh*t.
  8. So says you, Cllr. Frank Schuengel. Most ironic given that you are one of just 12 Councillors in the island's capital Douglas whose refuse policies, spendthrift ways and 10% rates increases are all felt by many as the biggest national disgrace.
  9. Thanks. Amended appropriately now. DBC has "form" for major land grabs from Braddan. See: DouglasExtensionofBoundariesAct1985.pdf
  10. Douglas Borough Council (DBC) is all too often very much anti the public whom they are meant to be there to represent. They would still be able to charge the big rates up at the big business parks if DBC got the boundaries extended to include them as they most certainly have long wanted. And not forgetting the negativity and obstructionism of the IOMG Planning Department and the IOM Chamber of (No)Commerce. The local people as consumers always seem to hold absolutely no relevance, no importance and no interest to Douglas Borough Council nor the IOM Government. Far too often they are arrogant, smug, incompetent and unfit for purpose organisations - as virtually everyone knows except apparently themselves. Or maybe they do know but just don't give a sh*t.
  11. So even a small tin of own brand baked beans has increased by £2 in the past 10 weeks. Really..... And the other options of Shoprite and the Coop are so very much cheaper than Tesco aren't they And they have such superior products to Tesco don't they And they have many more and far bigger promotional deals than Tesco don't they And they have a far bigger selection than Tesco don't they. And they have an island wide delivery service don't they. Yeah, I must have missed all that somehow.
  12. Cancelled because the weather is too good?! Or because their ATR-72s here are a crock of unreliable ***t?
  13. People using 'other smaller airports' usually have more, and more frequent, alternative means of transport. Comparisons with failures elsewhere are in in any case abhorrent. They should not have any bearing on what is suitable and appropriate for the Isle of Man. But you are in effect saying that it's just fine because sh*t happens elsewhere too. You clearly want us all to just suck-it up and shut-up. And that's typical of the problems here and why things are where they are in most key matters from the Prom to the Liverpool Terminal, from the Glover and Ranson debacles to the multiple aspects of the Airport mega failings. But thanks for your excellent insights, as always.
  14. I did not in fact miss that but many congratulations on that news too. Let's hope nobody will miss your, and Falk Horning's, sterling efforts at more Germany type policies in a very non-German Manx setting - as you have referred to in support of their justification and commented on so very favourably. Specifically in the matter of DBC's mega bins collection policy change. And its endless debacles. Yes indeed. Congratulations certainly must be in order - so very well done you. Lest anyone forgets.
  15. Good. Accepted of course and thanks.
  16. There is no valid reason why that should be any sort of a pre-condition at any time for anyone at all to comment on the existing one. I like most of your posts and I have learned some good things from them and have also adjusted some opinions. But when you jump in with comments like that - in effect just nitpicking and trying to undermine and squash another person's totally valid opinions like this I can't help but lose a lot of respect for you. A great pity that.
  17. Many congratulations to Frank ''Amadeus'' Schuengel on his appointment last month to the Vice-Chairmanship of the DBC powerful Regeneration and Community Committee. It's great that he has the time for all the representation of his constituents and all the Council activities as well as his main day job and his multiple Social media and other online activities. And it is very impressive and surely most auspicious that he still continues as the very long-serving and as such the senior Moderator of these independent and always objectively and fairly run forums. One of only two Moderators. All the Douglas ratepayers and especially all of his South Douglas Constituents (unfortunately all of them are a long way from the constituency in which he lives) and all of the members and viewers of Manx Forums owe Frank a great big thank you for all the things that he does and has done for them. All of his very many achievements in these roles have all clearly been for their very great benefit.
  18. It's not just 'anyone'. Just the utterly incompetent, pathetic, idiotic people involved in running such key matters as the airport including the responsible politicians who do not, or will not, grasp the very damaging impact of the long running serial disruption on the island and it's reputation. And then there is the basic fact of the now almost constant severe disruption to airport users. And incalculably large economic damage to the island. It's beyond deeply sad. And all avoidable with half a brain and the slightest will to act.
  19. Home now at last - if it's some topical humour that VoR or anyone else would like perhaps try this: Exclusive report .. Following this weeks report of a Douglas ratepayer being investigated by the police for allegedly stealing a Douglas bin the Herald can now exclusively confirm that Council Leader, Claire Wells, will soon be declaring a Douglas bin amnesty ahead of a new wheelie bin lease-back scheme about to be launched which will threaten to report every Douglas resident for bin theft if they have council property (a Douglas City Wheelie Bin) stored full time on their premises. In future all wheelie bins will be required to be returned to City Hall for safe custody until official bin collection day when they will then be leased back to residents for a strict 24 hour period just to facilitate the collection of refuse. When the Herald contacted Ms Wells she seemed delighted to confirm that the tip off the Editor had received earlier in the week was correct “Following our positive interaction with the police I believe that we need to take a different and more radical approach to our current revenue model. Ratepayers need to accept that they are just the custodians of our wheelie bins that we generously hand out at considerable cost – and mostly they just sit rent free in peoples gardens or on drives for some fourteen days a month before they are required to be emptied. This is an inefficient way of deploying council assets and according to non-existent legal advice we thought about taking potentially leaves us open to home owners trying to charge us for allowing our property to be sited on their land. As a result in future the Council will be demanding the return of all our refuse assets for the two weeks the ratepayer currently has free usage for and we will then lease our property back to the user at the cost of £10 for up to 24 hours use so that they can properly dispose of their waste. This will also cut down on the unsightly mess overflowing bins are creating which is embarrassing to the Council and makes it look like our refuse changes aren’t working. No doubt the largely ill-educated, trouble making, neanderthal minority of ratepayers will have an issue with this – but if they do we will simply report them for theft and retrieve our property anyway via IOM Constabulary” Ms Wells then closed by adding “We have been looking for a way to inflict even more inconvenience and annoyance on our ratepayers for a while and after the bin theft episode this week we think that this sort of petty, narrow-minded, vindictively futile exercise in enforced compliance is just the right way to do it. Under the amnesty ratepayers will have thirty days in which to voluntarily return our property before they automatically get reported to the Police for theft. Amnesty letters will be sent out on the 30th June and our bins must be returned at the current custodians cost” Having obtained surprisingly frank disclosure from Ms Wells the Herald then contacted Douglas City Mayor Natalie Byron-Teare to see if she might add anything further about what are bound to be highly controversial changes – however she declined “I’ve just bought a nice new hat for functions and swapped my name for something that sounds a bit posher so I leave all of that day to day stuff to Claire really. Nobody really cares about dirty old bins to they? I suppose at least I won’t have to get my new gloves or shoes dirty touching a filthy bin if we do take them away for two weeks so I’d be in favour” If you are a Douglas resident concerned about the potential impact of the Douglas City bin amnesty please get in touch. 20. Meanwhile, a humorous note back on the topic of the wonderfully talented, highly skilled and very frugal great value for vast amounts of money levied on their ratepayers Douglas Borough Council ............................. https://portsoderickherald.wordpress.com/2023/06/10/douglas-bin-amnesty/ Exclusive report .. 22. Hi. I wasn't actually apologising to anyone, VoR. I know you are far too intelligent though to have to Google ''Irony''. 🙂 I am out of here as I have to go across the island so shall leave this there now. Beware of the lightning heading our way from the Liverpool side overnight
  23. I sincerely apologise to you. You're absolutely right. It was totally wrong of me to not regard anything as valid humour when posted anywhere at all by DBC Councillors like Amadeus whom I consider to be dangerous to the ratepayers and worse than useless. My bad. Sorry again.
  24. Because you have run out of bin collections to cut and anything else to cut? While putting everyone's rates up yet again - this time by 10%? You are really wonderful. In your own mind. Douglas is so terribly lucky to have you as one of the twelve anti ratepayer idiots running it. Your post is deeply sad and totally smug in the circumstances. True to form, huh. Well done you.
  25. Do you know the quantities sold to N. America? And is it also sold much cheaper just like our meats are sold across? The Isle of Man. Where You Can - totally shaft the public in every aspect of life including all necessities.
