The problem is not many people are prepared to take on the stress of attempting to teach the youth of today as there are far more financially rewarding jobs with half the stress.
Children simply didn’t listen to adults like they used to and it can be quite humiliating when they fail to execute the simplest of instructions despite multiple requests.
The phrase teaching also assistant is very out of date as many support staff are trained in dealing with SEN children, have degrees and aren’t there just to cut out and photocopy things for teachers, they are in class or take small groups of specific children with specific needs.
Anyone who works in the education system will tell you it’s the toughest it’s ever been post Covid for various reasons. They deserve immense respect, not being looked down. The support staff have poor pay, poor job security and have little or no say in how they are used.
I remember some Science teachers who were intellectually advanced, but couldn’t engage with students at their level so weren’t as effective as you would think.
