The problem is not many people are prepared to take on the stress of attempting to teach the youth of today as there are far more financially rewarding jobs with half the stress. Children simply didn’t listen to adults like they used to and it can be quite humiliating when they fail to execute the simplest of instructions despite multiple requests. The phrase teaching also assistant is very out of date as many support staff are trained in dealing with SEN children, have degrees and aren’t there just to cut out and photocopy things for teachers, they are in class or take small groups of specific children with specific needs. Anyone who works in the education system will tell you it’s the toughest it’s ever been post Covid for various reasons. They deserve immense respect, not being looked down. The support staff have poor pay, poor job security and have little or no say in how they are used. I remember some Science teachers who were intellectually advanced, but couldn’t engage with students at their level so weren’t as effective as you would think.

Where do they find all the money for this! Schools are on their knees due to lack of staff and the kids are running riot! Insanity! Get the basics right first!

Ok, but can you communicate effectively face to face with another human being and work in a team? That’s way more important than atoms and quadratics. They’d be better off teaching people skills and the dynamics of human interactions than the dynamics of a beaker of water.

The majority of that would probably the same group of students. They need to be identified and establish the reasons behind each one’s useage. It’s the same with vaping. Some are doing it to be cool, others have a mental health condition that is fueling it and that needs sorting out.

There are regular offenders with regards to the issue of leaving the classroom. Those students need to be identified and dealt with. It’s the same ones. Some have problems with specific lessons and teachers. They don’t need the toilet, they just have no concentration span and get bored very easily. Children need structure and guidelines, not to be left to indulge in their every want and desire. Minority ruining it for the majority.

Unfortunately this is another case of the minority ruining it for the majority. The children who have abused the privilege of going to the toilet during lessons by vaping or meeting up with their mates now have meant everyone now has to suffer. The IOM Education system inclusivity policy sounds nice on the outside and makes the politicians look good, but in practice it makes life way more difficult for the staff and those who conform.

If you are working in a school these days expect to be verbally abused, intimidated, talked over constantly and if you send your child to one of our high schools expect all the above plus regular physical abuse too. After that don’t expect anyone to do anything about it either. The line ‘we are lucky we don’t live in Gaza or the Ukraine’ hopefully will provide you with some comfort.

The alarms are still turned off in one school apparently so that the fire alarms aren’t constantly triggered.

A farce I say, a farce! And it’s our money they are wasting!
