  1. I'm not doubting you but are you sure this is on (I've not seen anything on Facebook about it)? I know you're based in the south so would hate you to have a wasted journey in terms of numbers of people showing their cars at least (I know there are a few regulars who go to help out every Sunday regardless). I'm lacking in transport atm and it's too near to Christmas to throw money at taxis there and back from Ramsey (cost me £30 last time when Shmee was over).
  2. Next event is just a week away, as part of the Ramsey Christmas Shopping afternoon and Santa Trail, in the recently regenerated Market Square. Spread the word, bring something interesting along (modern / future classics are fine) or just pop along for a skeet and a chat with like-minded car fans. I'm working sadly but I will pop down for a 30 minutes at least (maybe longer, depending on cover). I know the museum will be bringing some of their cars along as well. Hope I get to meet some fellow MF members on the day.
  3. Never seen an NSX over here, let alone knew that one used to regularly drive around Ramsey - dunno how I missed that! There must be at least one tucked away somewhere - I'd never seen a Lotus Carlton over here until I spotted the one on loan in the museum the other week. I'm missing the better weather already, we've got months of this wet stuff to get through yet! Let's hope for a dry and not too cold day on Sunday 6th for the display in Market Square...
  4. Did anyone see the Aventador? Well, the owner took Shmee round to his place to show him his collection. which included a Shelby GT500, a Ford GT, a Kawasaki H2R and a shitload of competition bikes from various categories (TT MotoGP and others). The Aventador itself is a one of fifty pirelli Edition. Video on youtube if you want to watch all of the clips he took while he was over clicky
  5. Yeah, I think they (and some other admins) ran the Manx Shops and Shit Service page. It was quite an inflammatory page, to say the least!
  6. Maybe this is a different group? Wasn't there one that was run by two brothers?
  7. In a stroke of great irony, I think myHermes is the thing that attracts the most complaints on the Manx Shops and Service, Good and Bad Facebook group. Long may it continue.
  8. I'd just popped my head out the front door as you were getting out of that - I had no idea that was you lol! Nice car mister!
  9. They had a 1907 steam powered car running and taking people out for a spin and they got a jet engine out and hand cranked it into life, which was fun. Not sure if there is anything planned at the museum next month but there will be a display in Market Square on Sunday 6th December for the Ramsey Santa Trail and the museum are taking some of their cars to that. Not sure on times yet but it was 12-4 last year when the cars where parked up on Parliament Street. Ah right sorry yes, the one with the two tone paint job? I just auto defaulted to 80's Rover haha. I had a quick skeet inside as I'd heard they had a few new exhibits on display since I was last there and I spotted this one as well...
  10. Looks red to me, not as red as the Ferrari F430 but still red. it was a 2600s and apparently its original, not restored.
  11. Bit wild up there, was fun trying to stand still enough to get some snaps - got the money shot though Not a bad turnout really, supercars and retro cars and a half decent number of people inside as well. The breakfast was lovely too. Din't spot Overdose there and don't know what you look like doc. Not sure if Micky was thee or not as there was the little red MG as you say, along with the red Rover (but I believe the guy that owns the Rover is called Steve). Despite the crappy weather it was a great morning out, I'm £50 poorer now though.
  12. I read it as in 1960's era, it would be a bit specific to be a 60 something's car club (although I guess a lot of the classic car mob could very well fall within that age range, but probably not so many with 80's and 90's classics (unless they're reliving their mid life crisis all over again). In other news, shmee is on the boat, so that's definitely happening tomorrow.
  13. If you do make it, what car should I be looking out for Micky? We really do need to come up with an MF signal or greeting.
  14. I'll be there - shmee150 (internet dude that's big into his cars) will be over filming there apparently - should be a good morning!
  15. Pretty much what I'm into but also the modern supercars as well (80's teenager so that's probably why). I do have an appreciation for cars from all eras though and am a member of multiple groups on Facebook that cover everything from the Arab supercar season in London to the very early days of motoring. I think there are a lot of like-minded people over here, it's just getting them to know each other. Easy if you have a specific marque and there is an owners club locally but less so if you don't (or there isn't). I was chatting to a customer today and he is in the RR club and the Manc Classic Car club but he has other marques in his collection and he's not really able to share his passion for those so easily locally as there's either no owners club or simply not enough cars over here to justify one. I think you do get a good mix up there as a rule, some yank stuff, 80's stuff and classic / repo stuff as well (there's a lovely SS100 replica that is sometimes there for instance) I think you do get a bit of inter-club activity as well and there's usually a shout out beforehand in the the various groups to see who is going up. As for the summer thing, I think in general most of the events happen then but I know the Porsche boys are meeting up in early November. I've been on a few of these, great fun. Any kind of bike welcome, even Harleys. I used to have a Sierra as my 'fun' car, a red 2.9 V6 4x4. Wonder if it's still around, it was a GLS, much rarer than the XR4x4. It's a shame there isn't a local equivalent to the DVLA database (or a local reg checker / history app) so you could look it up online (or a VIN checker so you could see if it still exists but maybe across).
  16. How modern are you looking at and how sporty? I know one of the guys that is a regular out at the museum has a Nissan GT-R (well actually, two of them do) and I've been out there when there was a Ferrari F12 and a 50th Anniversary Lamborghini Aventador (plus a couple of Porsches and another Fezza) among other machinery. I think both of the GT-R guys are into bikes as well. I don't know what sort of turnout the monthly meets attract as it's a fairly new thing and they changed the day from Saturday to Sunday to try and boost numbers and aside from the one time I was out there on a Sunday, I've not been to any others as I don't have a car at present! - hoping to resolve that in time for the spring though).
  17. Heh, does anyone remember the time they all started posting on MF?
  18. There's a few clubs about, Porsche owners club, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Manx Classic car club and there's a Classic Ford owners club as well. That's all I know of for sure. There's monthly meet up at the Motor Museum on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 10am iirc (might be 10:30). I think the museum is a pretty good bet as a general rule as you do tend to get people out there anyway so if you make your way to the cafe you'll most likely meet some like-minded people in there. The other clubs do have runs etc throughout the year but you kind of have to know someone that's involved or join the club yourself. I was looking at trying to get all of the various club details and trying to do some sort of calendar of events for 2016 and beyond but again, it comes down to knowing the right people in the first place. I am a member on some of the Facebook groups if you want some links. I have no idea on the bike side of things as that's just not my bag really but I am sure someone on here will know.

You were sorely missed when you chose to leave MF but at least we still had the opportunity to speak to you elsewhere, now you are gone for good and this small community (both virtual and real world) are the poorer for it. Rest in peace dude.
  20. Anyone seen Knoxville lately?
  21. Oh my word, this is still going! Captain...
  22. Plenty of other telly on, no need to watch any of that soap bollocks.
