Thargoid Killer
Can anyone help? Looking for a local business to repair some pocket watches that have been handed down to me. A couple are pretty old ( 1800's I believe ) , some are more modern than that. Repairs ranging from cracked face glass, simply not working, missing hands, good clean etc etc. I know about Corletts ( ? ) in Castle street, anyone know anybody else? Minxie
There is a chap who mends clocks (he did my antique grandmother clock for me). I think his name is Abrahams but I am not sure of his number - I contacted him through Hamilton Restorations (Tel: 662483).
The Old Git
I think his name is Abrahams but I am not sure of his number He has the antique place in Demesne Road, opposite Barry Curran. Probably better known as the landlord of many flats around Douglas
Addie
There used to be an elderly(ish) clock/watch repairer in Peel, who worked from his house opposite the post office. He could often be seen in the window. I don't know if he's still there though.
mannin
Give these chaps a try, although they might be quite pricey!
Cambon
Wilkins use a watchmaker who is very good. I think he used to work for R.W.Smiths. It is not cheap though.
war baby
Can I revive this old thread with a similar question: Is there a good local person today for both pocket watches and wristwatches? Thanks.
quilp
I've used the jeweller's on Prospect Hill a couple of occasions, not that cheap. I believe they send the watches away and there are numerous workshops advertised on t'interweb offering repairs by post... https://www.repairsbypost.com/
Peter Layman
I have my dad’s pocket watch that had stopped working. A guy up the north of the island got it working for me. I’ll see if I can get his contact details for you
