bluemonday
In todays Times Lord Mandelson’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has drawn up a forecast of new professions it believes will be required of the future, when science has pushed life expectancy to 120. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/poli...icle7009699.ece Mandelson commissioned the report from Fast Future, the consultancy firm, to help the government plan Britain’s training and education needs. The study forecasts some of the most important science and technology trends of the coming decades and identifies 110 professions that could arise from them. Jobs that are expected to be popular with “aspirational” candidates in the future include space station architects and space tour guides. Critics believe Mandelson’s officials may have suffered a similar impairment in commissioning such a report. Over to you Arkwright. Moghrey Mie
Consultancy and getting money for old rope off governments - will no doubt still be going well in the future too. Considering it has taken them 50 years to realise that tourists have gone elsewhere I doubt whether IOM government can do such 'blue skies' thinking themselves. They are ripe for consultants to help them vision the future. It's virtually impossible to predict the future. Who could foresee the internet and growth of mobile phones world-wide even 10 years ago?
