Got A Fat Ps3?

Well not if you want it to work anyway. The lack of a leap year seems to have busted them all.

digitalspy seems to be the only place with any mention of this, SONY are not mentioning it nor are any of the major new agencies, I guess if it's NOT a 'March Fools' thing the new agencies will pick it up later.

I switched mine on for a bit of cod last night before bed and thought I'd broked it.

Was only after a bit of googling that I found lots of others with the same problem so it was kind of a relief.

Really annoying but at least it hasn't blown up like I thought it had.

I'll be pretty fecked off if I've lost my save data though as they've been suggesting on the news today....

Seems the switchover on date has restored the problem. (24hr glitch) I think the engineers were just waiting for the date to change overnight!

Official statement:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/playstation-network-service-restored/

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
