Building A Gaming Rig

Recommended Posts

Re-installed the onboard network drivers and had only one BSOD in the last hour. He says it's running sweet at the moment.

Everything looked stock to me in the BIOS, but that's the first time I've seen a BIOS that you can use a mouse in. There were 3 choices for CPU:

Power Saving

Normal

Optimize (had a flame on it)

It was set to Normal.

Mini Bazcabs hasn't been in there, he was as impressed as I was for a BIOS.

Just made him reboot it.

Normal the processor speed was 3.3

Optimized the processor speed was 3.4.

No idea how to get it to run at 4.5 as it definitely isn't now, if it ever was.

bear in mind that the newer i7 CPU's (and i assume other newer ones) will not sit at their top speed unless pushed (mine is at 4.2ghz but if i'm just in windows it hovers at around 1.5ghz per core

Also steam has a backup function if you do need to reformat (just remember to save anything in 'my documents' as some games still shove some stuff there too.

Well the rig seems to be settled again now, not had a BSOD since last night and he has been hammering it all day today online.

Contacted Chillblast and they have said the same as you Rock they've recommended CPU-Z if I want to monitor it myself
