Procedure To Import An English Car

how do the new UK rules apply now ?

from what I gather existing road tax is cancelled as soon as ownership changes,

the new owner has to pay new road tax in their name

- so how does this work for exporting vehicles from UK which may need a test before registering on Island ?

that is as I understand it but "they" are only likely to take action after they have received notification of change of ownership , so you could take a chance if the sale date is the same as the date shipped to the IOM .

The vehicle I bought was kept off road until it went for it's IOM test then re registered on manx plates.

I thought it works this way. You insure a car with one of a number of insurers for a short period using the chassis number. Book a test, drive straight there and get it tested, then taxed and insured with the right reg. Keep all the paperwork about the sale, insurance and forthcoming test with the car. I'm sure that's how my mate got a rebuilt classic car over some years back.
