  1. "Flour usually contains a small amount of additives. Bleaching agents such as benzoyl peroxide are added to make the flour more white. Oxidizing agents (also known as improvers) such as potassium bromate, chlorine dioxide, and azodicarbonamide are added to enhance the baking quality of the flour. These agents are added in a few parts per million. Self-rising flour contains salt and a leavening agent such as calcium phosphate. It is used to make baked goods without the need to add yeast or baking powder. Most states require flour to contain added vitamins and minerals to replace those lost during milling. The most important of these are iron and the B vitamins, especially thiamin, riboflavin, and niacin." Yum, yum. Read more: http://www.madehow.com/Volume-3/Flour.html#ixzz7PNp6STyh
  2. I learned a lot about roundabouts when I worked in Cardiff many years ago. Roundabouts there were in effect treated like these roundels, except that people did drive around rather than across. When you got to a roundabout, if there was nothing immediately in front of you, you entered. If you hesitated at the entrance, you had someone up your back end! Everyone kept moving. Scared the death out of anyone who wasn't local, but it worked. The roundels work, if you make sure you don't cut out in front of someone and cause them to brake. The worst problem with the roundels is the people who use them to do U turns, so they are following the lines round and getting in everybody else's way!
  3. We wondered when Ramsey Bakery bread rolls were not available in Tesco yesterday. Not keen on buying imported bread, with all of the chemicals it contains. At least Ramsey bread is natural flavour, rather than chemically induced flavour.
  4. The requirement for an LFT to be taken within 12 hours of arrival appears to have been removed, for residents at least.
  5. "Mr Crookall gave an update to Manx Radio's John Moss:" https://mmo.aiircdn.com/61/621f229c5ea88.mp3 It's right at the end of the soundbite that you get "the meaning of life, the universe, and everything". Ha ha ha.
  6. Sounds very disabled friendly... not....
  7. It's all part of the big plan, to stop anyone using Minorca Hill as a longtail run while the Mountain Road is closed.
  8. "The Felicity Ace ship, carrying around 4,000 vehicles including Porsches, Audis and Bentleys, some electric with lithium-ion batteries, caught fire in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday. " "Lithium-ion batteries in the electric vehicles on board are “keeping the fire alive,” "traditional water extinguishers do not stop lithium-ion batteries from burning" A good advert for electric cars..... not.
  9. Do you really think that I was saying that this was a win, win for the Great Manx Taxpayer? You only have to look around their empire elsewhere.....
  10. Our ambition is to bring forward a gold-standard centre of science and innovation for cannabis cultivation and research, which will lead in this emerging sector on the Isle of Man. Being Peel, our ambition is to make shed loads of money. It will "deliver investment to the Isle of Man that will unlock partnerships across the public and private sectors." So the public and private sectors will be falling over themselves to pay for it. Win, win.
  11. With the right sort of handshake.
  12. I was driving along Governor's Road as she went out this morning, and noticed that she seemed to be dipping a bit. I'll bet there was a bit of broken crockery and glassware about!
  13. It's not just vans that remove visibility. Some of the Chelsea Tractors are as big, and with heavily tinted (black) windows, you can't see through them. I believe that it is intended as an advisory no-go area for when there are horse trams out, to give them a clear run, and to keep you clear from getting clipped by a tram. Looks like it won't be needed for a while if they stand by their latest decision to make tourists walk half way along the Prom to find one of the Island's unique attractions.
  14. I did, too. Got through quickly, but then it took 25 minutes to drive along the Prom. 🙃
  15. Has anyone looked along that wall for big, long, cracks?
  16. Lockdown changed things for a lot of people who had normal lives and normal pets. Pets got used to their keepers being in all day and available, and separation then became intolerable. In many cases, having a pet at home while people were in lockdown was all that kept the human sane.
  17. Meat Loaf had declared: “If I die, I die, but I’m not going to be controlled.” Meat Loaf railed against people who enforce Covid restrictions, whom he likened to Nazis. He was was diagnosed with COVID and passed away after his condition quickly became critical. From Bat out of Hell - "And I know that I'm damned if I never get out And maybe I'm damned if I do". Covid knows no borders, and has no prejudices.
  18. It could be another Costa Lotta Coffee Shop, like the one at the Sea Terminal.
  19. Does that mean someone in Gov't has said owt?
