  1. I wasn't a fan of Nick Cage in kick ass. he was ok playing the father role but the Batman impression was terrible. and Aye it's bang wrong to be aroused by Hit Girl. Give it ten years before you start thinking about that sort of shit yeah. Went to see Toy Story 3 on Monday. Brilliant, the Pixar guys really are masters of their work. Not sure whether I'd welcome a 4th outing, as it might start to get quite over kill but if they do go for it (Tim Allen rumoured to be signed up for another one) I'm sure it'll be great too.
  2. Watched Valentines Day with the missus the other night. I've no one else to blame but myself.
  3. I think we've seen different versions of this film. The one I saw featured mega-graphic torture porn. I agree with Bozz.
  4. I think if you can do hostel and the Saw series you'll be grand with things like Haute Tension and Frontieres. The Ordeal is more of a psychological one than a gory horror. There's a few disturbinig scenes like but it's not the eyes being burnt out graphic imagery of Hostel. It's really just Martyrs and Inside that are the gruesome ones (though my missus tells me Private Pracise has a storyline very similar to Inside so maybe it's not that bad) Mo, I've got the lot (not grotesque like) so if you ever want to try them out let me know and I can either drop them up or come down and we'll have a couple of beers and watch some nazi cannibals go at some french kids
  5. If you're up for a challenge and can find a copy of it try Grotesque from Japan. Banned in the UK. Seriously NSFW. The J-Horror is definatley turned up to 11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3U8Gvf6w_s
  6. haha aye Martyrs is quite a horrific film. Some other French films have come close but I still think Martyrs is the worst/best whichever way you look at it.
  7. Watched Hot Tub Time Machine. not bad, quite funny in places, not really something I'd associate with John Cusack doing. Off to check out the Elm St. reboot on Wednesday.
  8. Tried watching Nine last night. If anyone has seen it can you let me know what in christs name was going on? I think Though they could've explained that a bit better.
  9. It would've been nice if he escaped but that would've opened up a sequal for the horrible hollywood lot, so in a way I'm glad it ended the way it did.
  10. hahah absolutely loved it because It was alright, fair enough twist at the end and Pierce Brosnan was a brilliant Bastard. Cinema was filled with teary eyed teenagers and women in their 50's who should know better. Watched Law Abiding Citazen last night. Brilliant performances from Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. Packed with second guessing characters, ace ways of killing people, Jigsaw would be proud. 8/10
  11. Twonky: what did you make of Martyrs after watching Inside? Frontiers is good but I found martyrs and inside a bit harder-core. Watched Remember Me at the villa the other night. Not bad, your usual plod along Whicker Park / Vanilla Sky / Requiem For a Dream type alt-fashionable film. It has your man from Twilight in it, Eddie Munsters older hollywood brother. Bit of an interesting twist right right at the end, which made sure there were a few damp eyes. But I felt with a bit more thought it could've cut the first 40 mins down to 15 or 20 and concentrated on the last 20 ish minutes more. 5/10 all in all.... actually 3/10 I forgot they ruined a perfectly good sigur ros song with a sex scene... no tit 2/10 500 Days of Summer. This was more enjoyable, though Zooey Dechanel can't really act that well. The kid from 3rd From The Sun was very good in it. No twists, no turns, no last minute shockers, just an easy to watch little use of brain film. Ace soundtrack to it. Finally saw What Happened in Vegas last night. This was quite funny and prolonged my enjoyment of Cameron Diaz' face.
  12. Aye Foot soldier is an ace film. Not one for the birds hahaha. Speaking of which I watched The Women the other night. It was alright funny in parts but you definately need overies to appreciate it Also watched Anvil again, came close to tears.... again.
  13. Rise of the Footsoldier is a great film. Spirited Way is very good but I prefer 5 cm per second The artwork in it is fantastic.
  14. I've been told they miss a lot out of the book. For example he keeps both his legs.
  15. Nice, I've been meaning to watch Precious.. When is the DVD release? Watched Time Travellers Wife over the weekend. If it had any attempt at making sense I may have started my period. Unfortunately it was a bad interpretation of a good book, only made to scrape in a few pennies from the overy brigade who found The Notebook and My Sisters Keeper remotely entertianing. Saying that My other half loves the Notebook and My Sisters Keeper and thought this was pish. Watched Casino Royale again last night. Great film, great action, made me want to be stupidly rich.
  16. Saw Funny People and Anvil: The Story of Anvil yesterday. Funny People does have a lot of funny people in the cast. Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan and the usual people you'd expect from an Apatow film, Sarah Silverman and Ray Romano even makes cameo appearances but this just isn't funny. The film is about Adam Sandler (played by Adam Sandler trying to play a character but ends just being himself) who is told by doctors that he is dying. With this news he decides to leave his film career behind and go back to his roots of stand up comedy. Enrolling Seth Rogan into help him write jokes the next 2 and a half hours are a mixture of boredom and bewilderment. I laughed for the first time an hour and 40 minutes in. Anvil: The Story of Anvil This on the other hand is a terrific and sometime heart warming look into the life of Metal 'legends' Anvil. In the 80's Anvil were a force, touring with Whitesnake, The Scorpians and Bon Jovi Anvil were on top of their game. But something just didn't work out for them. Interviews with Slash, Lars Ulrich and Tom Araya will show you how important Anvil are in Metal history. The film takes place as they're about to record and release their 13th album and hopefully the one that will make them. There are scenes that wouldn't out of place in Spinal Tap; constantly missing trains, getting lost in Prague etc but this is a real band and real amibitions. I really feel for 'Lips' as he has spent 30 years rocking out and trying to make a living from being in a metal band. Anvil is a great story and a must for any wannabe rockstar or fan of metal out there.
  17. Watched Inside last night. Set on Christmas Eve, as a pregnant Sarah is trapped in her own house with a psychopath hell bent on taking her unborn child from her. More and more victims are piled up, as people arrive at the house throughout the night to check on Sarah. Finding temporary safety, Sarah locks herself in the bathroom and tries to sit out the massacres downstairs until help arrives. A pretty gorey film, very good story and marvellous acting from Beatrice Dalle (Betty Blue) and Alysson Paradis (aye Vanessa's little sister). It's French horror it's going to be bloody good, there'll no doubt be an American remake. Definately for fans of Martyrs, High Tension etc etc. If Wes Craven had made scream like this he'd have gone down in history books. I heard of a remake of Let The Right One In today which is quite upsetting. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1228987/
  18. Stewie Martyrs is a great film. Have you seen any other French horror ? Haute Tension and Frontiers are also very good. I've got Inside and Moon on the way from amazon. Not watched much filmage at the moment as I'm getting bang into my Wire boxed set.
  19. Paranormal Activity .. watched it, blogged it .. meh http://about3am.blogspot.com/2010/01/is-pa...y-scariest.html
  20. Victorian Dad, couldn't agree more. 2012 would make an ace simulator ride though. I'm always reminded of a Hammer film called The Nanny when I think of The Orphan. Someone should remake that. Mary Poppins meets Misery.
  21. Watched Devils Rejects and was ok but didn;t get on with 1,000 corpses.. Made the mistake of watching Stoic.... very disturbing... supposedly based on true events but not sure really how they can claim that. (I have the DVD... by all means have it.. but don't blame me if you can't look at a broom handle again without wincing ). haha a description of it is "A heated game of poker causes three men incarcerated for nonviolent offenses to brutalize their cellmate before taking drastic measures in order to cover up their crime." brutalize their cellmate... the broom handle by any chance?
  22. If you like Devil Rejects you'll love 1,000 Corpses. It's all just a Chainsaw Massacre rip off but it's good stuff.
  23. Just watched the trailer for it. They've approached the story in a different way. I'd be interested to watch the whole thing and see if it works as well as the original. I quite enjoyed the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. As a stand alone film it was great. I found as a remake there was as many cons as pros to the difference in filming. So far Last House looks like another Lionsgate adventure.
  24. Funnily Ade, I've not seen the remake, but re visited the original recently. It's no wonder you found it disturbing, the original was banned until about 2008 and the version I've got still has scenes cut out. I can't believe they kept the ban on for so long and gave a green light for the remake so quickly. Though I'd say Visually some scenes in Rob Zombie's House of 1,000 Corpses can be difficult to watch and that got certified no problem. Times have definately changed.
