  1. It's not just about traffic, it's also about maintaining services to properties and businesses whilst installing new services and then removing the redundant services, how the hell can you do that if you go section by section?? A better way of doing it would be to go down one side until you get to the end and then go back down the other side until you reach the other end but having said that it's not as simple as that.

  6. Don't you mean £15 million per mile? The Prom is about 1.5 miles so that works out at about £22.5 million, which is roundabout what the initial bugdet was. And I'm being quite generous here as the Prom is more like 2 miles which puts the comparison costs at £30 million for the Prom.
  7. I could never understand for the life of me that if we actually had to continue with the horse trams wwhy it wasn't just a single tram line, I mean for fuck sake, how many people are expected to go on the trams, even at peak summer time people would happily wait for the tram to return as long as the trams were running to time....we don't have millions using the tram each year!!
  8. I don't know the semantics, I wish I did but I do know some of the contractors as well as some Government staff (don't we all, it's a small island) and some are good at what they do and some are not.
  9. Recently: Richmond Hill and Johnny Watterson's Lane resurfacing with high friction material. NSC current works Peel Road between the Brown Bobby and the Quarterbridge There are also numerous smaller schemes, too many to list.
  10. That's just not true Derek, there have been many instances over the years, large and small schemes, where Sub-Contractors have either misinterpreted drawings and specifications or completely ignored them and done their own thing.
  11. I know that's the way it used to be but I'd like to think that things have progressed from that time.
  12. I don't know, they used batteries back in the day
  13. Or use battery packs and dc motors on the trams with charging docks at the tram terminal...not rocket science.
  14. Back on topic.. re the Prom, there are a great many inner city tram tracks that which are inlaid in concrete so it's nothing new.
  15. I'm not sure naming names is such a good idea, it could come back and bite you on the ass.
  16. I enjoyed my youth in proper pubs but can totally understand why people would want to stay at home and have a spliff or two along with a bottle or two of Becks....in the autumn and winter...but in the sprint and summer the same said people are missing out, they should have a spliff then head out into town and socialise.
  17. Oh, im sorry, are you a grammar expert? Funny thing about grammar, spelling and punctuation, the human brain can process text with bad grammar, punctuation and spelling so it doesn't really matter as most people are able to 'fill in the blanks, not sure what the percentage is but let's say it's at 90%, you then, are in the minority 10% and I tend not to cater for the minority.
  18. No I don't, neither I or my family walk or drive down that way, however, I will ask for a Police presence there on behalf of people of the Isle of Man.
  19. Well maybe if your former colleagues policed that area and enforced it then maybe the crap drivers, and they must be to not do 20mph in a 20mph zone with adequate signage and bloody bright traffic lights, might just get the message to slow the hell down, pay attention and be considerate or leave their cars at home and fucking well walk.
  20. I call bullshit on your 'I'm told....'.
  21. Well then surely moving and rearranging stones into a house shouldn't need planning permission by that logic.
  22. Yes, we know what the causes were but none of us know who was actually at fault....yet. I would say that there is more than likely a plethora of factors that created the flood in Laxey and that there are many responsible for what actually occurred but as stated previously no one knows the full story, not on this forum, and those that do outside of this forum will do all they can tonavoid being accountable. Agreed, poor residents.
