Just listened to the female caller (Lucy?) on the show...she absolutely runs rings round Stu Peters and totally shows up his lack of knowledge and ignorance on the subject ! Think he is gonna learn a tough lesson here about going all in on a subject without having done his research.

Dont mind Christy, Beth etc too much...only slight criticism is the amount of superlatives used for literally anything....every single story or discussion is usually preceded and or followed by 'Oooh that is soooooooooo lovely, its amazing, it really is fantastic'...even relatively mundane ordinary things...but aside from that...dont mind listening to them. The instant switch off however still remains Brindley. His consistent ability to annoy is a real talent. I don't make it through a sentence before the the channel is hastily changed.

Not so long ago MR were heralding their latest big launch.....Smart Local Focus. As far as I could tell it was Manx Radios rival to Google with the unique selling point that businesses who registered also got mentioned on the radio occasionally. They now seem to not mention it at all any more after hammering the jingles for a few months. Anyone (Stu?) know whose idea this was, how much was spent on it and what has happened to it now ? Seem to get 'Oops something went wrong' on most pages on it now...…!

Heard some details of the 'exciting' changes coming in the next couple of weeks. Live on air from 5am (not interested), Stu Peters moved to graveyard shift, Andy Wint taking over lunch time slot....and Brindley continues to be in charge of programming/scheduling etc.........bye bye Manx Radio.

Sounds like a challenge to all members of the public and all visitors....whoever gets interviewed over the TT period...or if you see any roving reporters anywhere you have to say 'I love Manx Radio TT' as loudly and as often as possible....together we can try to get it mentioned as much as possible..that will pi55 the Gov idiots off !

Do you mean like Mr Lakeman from the IOM, who lost two sons from taking 'ecstacy' tablets and now has campaigned as far as the house of commons for these drugs to be legalised so it's safer for young people (who will ALWAYS experiment) to take them. I tend to listen to the views of people with first hand experience of these issues such as Mr Lakeman rather than silly out of touch racist twats....

As posted above....the powers that be treat/pay their staff terribly at H&B...resulting in the expected problems with staff retention and therefore serious issues with quality and consistency of food and drink. If you want a prime example check out the Woodbourne...a CAMRA pub of the year winner turned into a shithole in less than three years...that takes some talent !

Think there tends to be a minority of local knobheads who use the event as an all day drinking session and start being twats by tea time coz they can't handle their ale. Yep I stopped counting at four mentions of her book... If the motives were genuine sympathy towards the grenfell victims and anger at failures by certain parties... The book about summerland would not be mentioned...shameful.....

On a slightly separate note, I just had MR on in the car on way to work. The DJ was again mentioning 'Smart Local Focus'....which I had kind of forgot about ! So it was launched with the strap line 'The worlds first internet search engine.....powered by radio'...or words to that effect. Does anyone actually know what the hell that means ??!! Is that not akin to saying 'Well, this is very exciting news, we have a really unique product...we have the worlds first supercar.....powered by custard !! So aware I was perhaps being cynical, I thought fair enough I should at least visit the site and have a look around. I randomnly picked Restaurants in the Douglas area (after having to scroll down through the drop down lists because annoyingly you cant type free format in the field for what you are looking for !) and hit search I got ONE result back...Fryers Fish and Chips in Onchan. So arguably a takeaway and not a restaurant. There is a long list of other businesses with phone numbers underneath, who presumably have not signed up to localfocus...but you cannot click on them, cannot see any further information etc. Which basically means certainly for restaurants, any sane minded person is going to use Google/TripAdvisor to find out what they need. I then thought that only one restaurant signing up in the three months plus since this was launched seemed pretty poor, so I searched for all entries across the board. Unless I am mistaken it would seem there is only 12 businesses in the whole island who have signed up to this ? Is anyone able to provide any further information/feedback on this ? Has anyone ever actually used it or benefitted from these brilliant offers that MR keep saying are available ? How much has been spent on it ? I really don't get it im afraid !

Yep each new situation that occurs seems to spawn even more social media nutters...Think the words from Tony Mepham (who unlike most commenters was directly involved in helping to resolve the situation) were of merit......'It was not a nice situation for the kids....But NOBODY was to blame' !! MR worth every penny for the screw ups alone...which seem to happen pretty much on a daily basis. Long unintended silences, wrong news clips played during news items...and within the last few minutes..hearing one of the presenters trying to make a phonecall right in the middle of a song playing. Who is responsible for the producing etc of the programs ? And once again...Brindley....maybe just me but I can listen to the likes of Christy D etc and the womens hour and not find it too dated or irritating at all....but the minute he comes on...its like a terrible 80s sitcom...without any jokes.

Watched a lot and read a lot over this conflict, the entrenched views piss me off so much. Whilst people continue to say 'Hamas did this' or 'Israel did this' it simply leads to more innocent civilians and kids being killed, and every one of these deaths is an absolute disgrace. Truth is a massively funded well equiped super power of blowing a piece of land to bits where residents are deprived of human rights. On the other side a few leaders of a radical group who unfortunately seem to be in power in Palestine seem hell bent on continuing the conflict and trying in vain to cause the same devastation to Israel and are failing miserably......,meanwhile while these politicians and leaders make these decisions....families are being wiped off the earth....its an absolute abomination. The leaders of these groups should be taken into a room by the most powerful leaders on our planet and told that if they do not stop this murder, then an international force will stop it for them.....and the sending of hundreds of millions of dollars from the 'land of the free' to Israel this week to continue with military systems is quite frankly repulsive.....As Russel Brand says....forget all the they did this or they did that....start asking questions about how peace is achieved now.....and for the future....

Is it not likely the case that some folk dont want further in depth investigations and/or prosecutions to come from this because they are still in positions of power at present and basically the key link in the whole Barclays/MEA deal ( the person who was on the boards of both at the time of the dodgy loan) was a far more savvy businessman than any of them and absolutely ran rings round the lot of them and then promptly left the island. I am sure a healthy profitt has been made for a few select folk in this debacle and the Ministers caught with their pants down will do anything to ensure their complete incompetence is not exposed further. Who was the treasury minister at the time of the Barclays/MEA loan deal ?

And yet just a few weeks ago there were over 4000 (alleged) members of a facebook group/campaign because a pub landlord in Peel wasnt at work for a couple of weeks due to a procedural issue.......guess they dont mind the £200k that this ridiculous unfair tax is going to collectively cost them....where are all the pitchfork wavers and leaflet distributors that were out in such force a few weeks ago ?!! Peel....and to a lesser extent the Isle of Man.....is a weird and wonderful place !

I did, and he made sure to mention that this shortfall would be made up by increasing tarriffs across the board very shortly. So if we are 25% short of where we need to be I assume the increases will be significant. A good news week all round from self styled 'man of the people' Mr Houghton. I am sure he used to make a real point of standing up and defending the rights of hard working working class people. I assume the protection of very generous MHK paypackets and pensions has now become a bigger priority.

Just heard John Houghton on MR talking about the merger of the MEA and Water Authorities. In amongst all the 'errr's as he frantically tried to rack his brain for a buzzword like synergy or just form a simple sentence, he casually mentioned that he is currently the chairman of the Water Authority and the Vice Chairman of the MEA. This is the guys who's main career was running a newspaper and sweetie shop in Willaston isnt it ? I am generally fairly glass half full....but I am starting to believe the doommongers who say we are all f**cked !!

Thought taxation was meant to be as fair as possible. How can this blanket charge be justified so that a single person on minimum wage income living in a small flat with one toilet is charged the same as a millionaire living with a large family in a house with half a dozen toliets ? Politicians need to stop taking the piss (!) with these unfair charges. £60 fines for working people parking their car on roads they have paid road tax for who are ten mins late getting back to their car coz they are working hard ? Load of bollocks....

Mr Mckay - RE teacher with a pronounced double chin Mr Kane - Number 2 in the horrible bastard stakes to the late Jeff Vaukins....smoked his pipe all round the school and had an explosive temper which would often result in him committing what would be classed as assault these days. Miss Schofield - Geography teacher - Spent most of her classes trying to get her to say 'fowestry' for obvious reasons !! Mr Pryke - Wild eyed English teacher...pretty decent bloke Mr Matthews - Another decent bloke and one of the founder members of the after school drinking club at the woody !!

Guy from the Raven has moved to Horse and Plough., brought his Thai chefs and menu with him. Horse and Plough used to be awful, now its very much worth a visit !
