  1. Heading’s behaviour towards Dr Glover has been viciously intimidating and unrelenting. It is outrageous that Dr Glover has been made to feel unable visit certain areas of the Island lest she encounter this sort of aggressive perverted dogma. With no respite from such obsession, present Jurby inmates who cite that as a case for a reduction in their sentences, should be viewed sympathetically.
  2. Also, I suspect some drivers expect their automatic headlights to switch on in the sort of poor visibility ‘daylight fog’ we encounter on the mountain. It seems they don’t.
  3. Mechanical defects as a cause of accidents are relatively unusual 2- 3 % ,but this figure is most inaccurate as it fails to include the most common, serious and consistent problem which is failure of that nut holding the steering wheel.
  4. It is very clear that he was struck off because of his misconduct and dishonesty.
  5. The ‘ alternative ‘ views regarding the Pandemic, I find very confusing. The theories seem so varied leaving an individual is to ‘pick and mix’ which aspects fit with best with their previous education, their political and racial beliefs - or they simply find most appealing Some say the Covid virus is a bio-weapon - one can choose from several possible culprits either acting alone of in some intricate international scheme with further options involving large business corporations an links to historical organisations thought to control the world ( several more options) Some say Covid virus it doesn’t exist, others say there is no such thing as a virus - that is any virus - therefore presumably no measles, small pox, polio, yellow fever, influenza ( the Spanish ‘ flu apparently was a hoax but it managed to kill more than 50 million) and by this logic, no Epstein and Barr were deluded, and the relationship between human papilloma virus and cancer, notably cervical cancer must be also be false and in consequence by this logic any form of vaccination can only be viewed as pointless, at best. By this reasoning, HIV or Aid cannot exist and the next inference must be any deaths must be down to something else. The reflex will be to blame the treatments that had been given . The belief that there is no communicable disease by contagion prompts selective quotes from microbiologists from the 1860s - the era of the light-refraction optics rather than the electron microscope.Stuck in the past has even lead to theories that such appendicitis can be best treated by relieving constipation. It is puzzling then why invermectin - or any other agent , can be advocated as a treatment for something which these folk claim does’t exist,.Unless another faction believes that there is a microbiological cause ( perhaps viewing it is a parasitic infection or due to scabies , as invermectin has a very good, safe record at dealing with both, but It is unclear if parasites, bacteria - indeed any other microorganisms are ‘ allowed ‘in their world.
  6. It is an established tradition on MF, but we do seem to have deviated off-topic. The question originally presented, focussed on the expression ‘ In good faith’ , which is included in the summary of the Wright Report into the conduct of IOMG with regard to the handling of the ‘Dr Ranson’ matter. What does it mean in this context? Is it simply ‘ Damning with faint praise’ ? Is this rather like a charitable examiner giving a mark or two for ‘ effort’ and adding another couple for attending and succeeding in putting their name on the exam paper? Do we infer that although the destination of the IOMG action should have been obviously calamitous, they doggedly pursued it and adhered to their path in the name of due process? Having set forth, they stuck to the route. No matter the cost to the tax payer. Their map-reading was faultless and their blinkered adherence to the path must not be questioned.
  7. This sounds reminiscent of a similar brilliant scheme, which I am told was trialled, very briefly, many years ago, where if the practice phone wasn’t answered after a certain number of rings it was diverted to another phone in the building. Unfortunately, the large number of ( attempted) calls first thing on a Monday morning hadn’t been fully appreciated, resulting in the system quickly becoming saturated and then extending out of the surgery and onto the Gov.phone network where the cascade continued.Allegedly, someone trying to book an appointment in Ramsey found themselves speaking to a sympathetic, but puzzled person who picked up the phone in Nobles laundry.
  8. Conspiratory theories, seem to be based the most extraordinarily complex machinations of the ‘illuminati’ etc. which involve secret alliances between various Governments of widely differing politics , religion and ideologies and further expand into involving thousands upon thousands of dedicated and efficient operatives who remain extraordinarily discreet - indeed utterly silent, about their activities and objectives. There must be many who have never approached to join in these diabolically cunning schemes who can be forgiven for feeling just a bit left out.
  9. International Holocaust memorial day 27 January 2024.
  10. Do we have a ‘ chief medical officer’ or ‘Director of Health’ - or whatever the latest term is, actually on the Isle of Man ?
  11. Aside from the money, it is the terminology that baffles me. ‘ Business Support’, This is the NHS What is the ‘business’, - why does it need supporting ? ‘ Executive’ ? ‘Officer’ ? The civil service seems to use the term ‘officer’ rather loosely, meaning any one who works in an ‘office’. The ‘Bureau Bleak- Speak’ continues.. the successful candidate will have to ‘ build and maintain to strong relationships with all ‘Stake holders in the Care Management Business ..’ and be ‘ the initial point of contact with stakeholders in the Care Management Team’ What are the ‘Stakes’ that are held , and by whom? Care Management ‘ business ‘ ? What is the Care Management Team? - What does it mean?
  12. Many of us grew up with ,and were treated by ,the NHS believing - or it now seems rather naively assuming, that it was an ‘Integrated Care’ system. Such terminology was never used.It would have seemed superfluous. ‘ Integrated Care ‘ ‘has been upstaged by ‘Fully Integrated Care’,‘ in some areas going further to be elevated to ‘Totally Integrated Care’ No one would argue against these phrases if it means having better services. However the evidence from some of its users suggests the contrary and that now we are witnessing a dis integration of the NHS.
  13. Autism is diagnosed more frequently now mainly as a result of the diagnostic ‘threshold’ for Autism being considerably lower than previously. There are numerous sites on line where you can check and diagnose yourself - ‘ Twenty things that show you have autism’ and such. On the basis of it being seen as a spectrum disorder, many, probably all of us ,could be placed somewhere on it, at least as having ‘Traits’. That isn’t such a bad thing, as it has the benefit of the diagnosis being better generally understood and tolerated and to make it less likely for it to become degraded into being used as a term of abuse.
  14. The spectrum of opinion regarding Katie Hopkins would appear to be a rather ‘U’ shaped ie intensified at both ends, where ranks of firm followers and admirers assemble at one and vitriolic haters congregate at the other. Now she has left it will allow the two groups to get back to the more serious business of attacking each other -over something else.
  15. Whether Katie H is viewed as a entertainer/ comedian / outspoken social / political commentator, or someone with the liberal views of a female 21st century version of Bernard Manning, the bottom line is that she needs to sell tickets. It would seem that wherever she is next due to appear, local news will be broadcast about her forthcoming show which will include some of her previous controversial opinions.Predictably, this leads to a local furore about whether or not her show should ,or should not take place. Free publicity. It helps to sell tickets. Next town …
