Interested in Manxman's theory as totally frustrated by conspiracy theorists, but have to say - The Railway, Bridge and British are all H&B and would benefit, however, still think in theory it has mileage.
I have been appalled and as tactfully as possible stated it on numerous occasions to my children's school at how poor the provided level of education has been, this includes two years before and two years post covid. No discernible difference.
Anyway, back on thread!
The quote I got was £211 including VAT which seems fair for what will be one installers time of probably 2-3 hours and various mounts and F&F.
Anyhow, I am going ahead with ordering hardware from Currys and will make sure I can activate subscription and it's working before getting them in.
I expect the quote to be £250-£350 which is a lot for putting up an extension pole and drilling a hole to put lead for router through, then letting the app position the receiver dish. Like you from the sound of it, we have absolutely no obstructions, but am not particularly technical 🙂 Anyone offering services though would be suitably rewarded - LOL!
Well, what with the commonly offered half price hardware available from Currys I have just got a local satellite/aerial installers round to provide estimate, which i know will eat up all the half price saving, but still looking forward to foregoing a landline 🙂
Am impressed with the Chamber of Commerce succinct and clear marker to Alex and Alf on behalf of the Business community and based upon obvious common sense and business survey results in response to the budget.
I would not mind the 2p tax rise IF I had any confidence in the Government department's ability to manage effciciently.
They don't need a 2p income tax increase. as the Chamber said "the size, cost and scope of government needs tackling urgently.........." ".....Government has become overly large and financially burdensome.........."
As a Tynwald scrutiny committee asked this week "what was being done to reduce the Government headcount, which has grown by almost 740 since 2016.."
And then the insulting asinine excuse from Allinson that means you know they'll not seriously consider doing anything about it that "while it can be tempting sometimes to say we should cut the headcount, the results of that can be quite devastating to individual services deliveries." blah de blah - argh!
The problem is the productivity levels of the vast majority of the Govt employees.
Although it differs between departments and roles the blue collar elements don't even hide from view resting on their shovels and in their huts and vans.
The office based workers hide between and behind each other and browse the internet all day.
As for the upper management don't get me started!
A proper review is a necessity - some of the things I have witnessed on a daily basis make my blood boil.
Are you for real - take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself if the difference you thought you'd make is ever likely or whether you've become another one at the trough!
Sorry, you're absolutely correct and no I didn't, but the number of examples of cock ups in a few hundred word report, yet still the basic outcome/conclusion just leaves me exasperated. Even by IOM Government standards this takes us to new levels of unaccountability/transparency.
Isle of Man Government 'acted in good faith' over handling of sacked top doctor | iomtoday.co.im
I don't know where to begin - it truly beggar's belief!
Catalogue of screw ups yet no one, as usual, held accountable - or even remotely reproached!
I can thing of plenty more we would be MUCH better suited to take the lead on than being as petty and wasting time and resources on what is realistically a petty 'crime'!
We already stoop pretty low when it comes to prioritisation.
