  1. Perhaps its an Irish Sea thing as I've just paid an exorbitant fare for the short crossing from Cairnryan to Belfast and back at £456 which makes the longer SPCo pricing look attractive.
  2. My experience of the 3 visits I have made is that this comment is pretty accurate as several items I looked for were missing.
  3. The actual fare is not displayed but the banding for each sailing is shown in the timetable
  4. +1 for The Talk Of The Town. Good service too.
  5. Yes when starting my FireTV app it reports that content is only provided within UK. If I then run a VPN with a UK IP address and it starts as normal.
  6. I've been using STARLING regularly for the past 3 years and it has been faultless. I Like it.
  7. I saw this "extra long life' bread on sale in S&S Motors during the festive period - It was dated until mid-February and so I decided to give it a try, purely for investigative purposes, expecting it to be utter sh!ite, but it was unexpectedly palatable and by carefully closing the bag it did last for more than 3 weeks until I turfed it out.
  8. Those transferring Shoprite employees which I have spoken to seem pleasantly surprised by the pending improvement to their terms and conditions, which somewhat suggests that a statement of 'horrible ethics' and 'morally bankrupt' is somewhat wide of the mark. Of course, time will tell.
  9. All TESCO Express stores across operate different prices to their larger and 'extra' locations. There are also regional variations too.
  10. The sound have been at 9 quid for quite a while
  11. This item is listed on the Sainsbury's UK website at £3.90 and is on sale in Shoprite at £5.60 - that's 43% mark up over retail - Just saying...
  12. They also both have many products which are exactly the same but at different prices. Different target markets.
  13. Sugarloaf Cafè in PSM have announced permanent closure on their Facebook page —- I am sorry to announce that The Sugarloaf Cafe will not be opening its doors in 2023. As with other small hospitality businesses, we have been hit by rising energy, ingredients and staff costs which make a low margin business like a cafe not economically viable. In addition, the current VAT regime is uniquely challenging for such enterprises. I would like to thank all of my loyal customers, staff and suppliers for their support and commitment over the past four years that the cafe has been open. It has been a lot of fun and I hope that we have been able to put a smile on people’s faces, but sadly, all good things must come to an end.
  14. So, the Manxman is delayed as stated in the IOMSP blog: “Testing carried out by Manxman’s builders during routine sea trials revealed that additional work will be required to ensure Manxman is up to the rigorous specification set out by Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. The works will be carried out by the contractors and shipyard IOMSPC has engaged to build the vessel. This will be followed by further sea trials. These additional works will have an impact on the delivery timeline of the vessel to IOMSPC in South Korea and subsequently its arrival in Manx waters” Current timetable shows the first Manxman crossings are scheduled from June 16th. The rumour mill seems to be suggesting that the gearbox issue is rather more than has been reported and that a new prop-shaft is required. This is to be manufactured in Germany and shipped to South Korea for a complex replacement procedure and talk of delay of one year is expected… Does anyone have any accurate knowledge of what the real situation is and are we to expect Manxman to not be in service much before TT-2024?
  15. Rather similar to my FINEST.IM card which hasn't yet (and probably never will be) used. My one attempt to get discount for a group of paddleboarders was fruitless as it transpired that all individual participants needed a card and not just the person paying the bill. Not shown in their advertisement and resulted in their loss of a group booking.
  16. Andrea's Italian Restaurant in Port St Mary to close in June
  17. I think you will find that you can print the UPS return label and hand the parcel in at the customer service desk at Manx Indy in Bradden - worked for me returning some walking boots to USA a month or so ago
  18. Is there any truth in the rumour that Velikas are taking up the restaurant spot on Peel Road between Starbucks and KFC?
  19. Seems they're on their way back (again)...
  20. I too took up a subscription with BEER52 and availed of their free first box, delivered here to Isle of Man. I ran into significant difficulties when attempting to cancel said subscription and ended up having to write to the home address of the Financial Director advising him that I had copied my bank with the letter and that no further payments were to be honoured. They eventually ended my subscription but my experience seems to be on par with a great many other disgruntled internet posters.
  21. The new Late Show: Late, Lonely and Lethargic... Is it me or is this as dull as ditchwater? There's no callers (except Old-Mate-Quirky reappeared last night) It's just disc spinning which could be pre-recorded. Stu Peters is better than this - I predict we'll all be turning the dial
