  1. similar situation at the Bowling green cafe on the promenade where I believe Jackie who runs a very popular facility with her daughters is reported to be finishing in July, also after closing the Corrin home and leaving Peel without any elderly , warden supported accommodation , no fire festival on the beach objected to that , do the commissioners actually want to do anything in Peel anymore
  2. you only have to look at the new Summerhill view nursing home an architects dream for racking up the price ,chimney stacks pointed gables and loads of stone cladding , no wonder its a couple of million over budget , thats why health and government in general are continually running short of money

    Ettyl

I see our old friend Mr Barrowman was mentioned in dispatches and one of the alleged financial backers of Ettyl , the reputation for this Island as a sound and good place to do business is on the slippery slope especially trying to drag government departments into it with alleged fake government letters of support ,
  4. Architect was the late Ian Brown , who also drew up the design plans for the Fort Anne , he had some empathy with Manx architecture and he left some very fitting buildings and structures including the new snottty bridge at kewaigue which fits in remarkably well
  5. it was like being savaged by a wet lettuce , the only way to bring change is to fully embrace the challenge , roll your sleeves up and work at bringing change from the inside , it seems almost half the keys don't have a work ethic , will not serve in departments and don't even understand how government and the system works , which is why we have a raft of silly and meaningless questions every week trying to curry favour with the lazy media who give them inches in the local newspaper or airtime ,the Isle of Man is steadily going down the pan and unless these politicians start to work together for the good of us all then life here will not be worth living anymore

    Firm closing

the man is no fool and a wealthy individual , its his money so give him a chance you might be surprised
  7. most popular route was the jersey European daily service started in Belfast , Isle of man London city finished in Jersey owned by Frank Walker , it was reliable and good value for money and the reverse route in the evening perfect for the business community coming home , Belfast passengers stayed on the Aircraft , we could do with something like that again
  8. its not the ones who have been overpaid they should be looking at , its the ones who were paid to go that have cost serious money certain senior figures in government just disappeared , Mars was bad enough and cost government a fortune , and most of those jobs lost under mars have been reborn under another title ,
  9. be interesting to see who benefits from the isle of man government pension scheme as I understand it Manx radio MNH and even some people working for Hospice can qualify I stand to be corrected, but that is my understanding

    Teachers

Perhaps in the cold light of day they realised what an expensive back water they have finished up in especially if they are young and enjoy foreign holidays and a social life ,by the time you build the isle of man factor into the cost benefit/ living costs equation its a no brainer to live and work here , and you will never be able to afford a decent house
  11. anybody seen the 2024 TT programme yet ? road closing and opening times are apparently incorrect and it looks like were having 4 lap sidecar races , whats the bet there will be an expensive recall , obviously someone has not proof read the final draft before it went off to the printers ,
  12. they could be even more successful if they did better deals on the fares , the old steam packet management had a whole raft of special offers to tempt passengers to travel , particularly in the shoulder months , better to have the manxman with a decent capacity than sail in with a dozen cars and a hand full of people its more visitors we want, better for the hospitality industry and everyone else trying to scratch a living in retail

    Period Poverty

there are sanitary products available already in the secondary schools ,and any young women requiring them only has to ask , and yes there are female teachers and assistants who issue them and in a discrete manner I don't see why we require legislation for this
  14. if you opened them up to the public so people could come into Douglas to shop and enjoy hospitality sector they would probably generate more than £350,000 in VAT the lack of parking and access is slowly killing off the city,
  15. question is were they given a government grant ,and if so who did the due diligence ,? was this a safe option for the construction sector following government involvement , and financially where do we go from here ?
