  1. you have Black and Longtail to thank for this he was allowed to run feral destroyed all the charity community mini bus's rubbed out Tours as an independent coach operation built a massive empire and no we cant afford it , and dont get me going on the railways they have ruined the victorian charm they brought , and are probably loosing a fortune as well ,
  2. the new bishop is a very capable and highly regarded lady , probable more well connected politically than the rest of Tynwald put together you dont get to be chaplain to the house of commons and the speaker without something between your ears , she is an excellent orator and talented speaker , I am sure she will bring a new dimension to Manx politics and hopefully try to return some of the traditional values and standards the present house has seen fit to throw to the wolves , lets give her a chance at least she has some knowledge and empathy of the Island and obviously done her homework ,

    TT 2024

Not a very good advert for a government organised and sponsered motorcycle event in ace I think its in very poor taste and Crass , can someone tell us who approved the design
  4. its all about drawing attention to ones self ! what I object to is the bastard that drives s up my road in the early hours of the morning and every time he changes gear there is an almighty bang that wakens the whole neighbourhood some of these garages are also responsible for mapping these cars so that they do back fire ,I dont think we have a traffic police division anymore who years ago would have stamped this anti social practice out and I also notice texting and using a mobile phone while driving is on the increase again particularly when drivers are heading home after work ,
  5. absolute tossers cost this Island a fortune !
  6. there seems to be a story going about that Manxman needs new batteries at a cost of somewhere approaching £3 million apparently she was fitted with batteries that were approaching end of life or replacement , also some of her electrical equipment seems to be somewhat dated , anyone out there heard anything similar , ?
  7. similar situation at the Bowling green cafe on the promenade where I believe Jackie who runs a very popular facility with her daughters is reported to be finishing in July, also after closing the Corrin home and leaving Peel without any elderly , warden supported accommodation , no fire festival on the beach objected to that , do the commissioners actually want to do anything in Peel anymore
  8. you only have to look at the new Summerhill view nursing home an architects dream for racking up the price ,chimney stacks pointed gables and loads of stone cladding , no wonder its a couple of million over budget , thats why health and government in general are continually running short of money

    Ettyl

I see our old friend Mr Barrowman was mentioned in dispatches and one of the alleged financial backers of Ettyl , the reputation for this Island as a sound and good place to do business is on the slippery slope especially trying to drag government departments into it with alleged fake government letters of support ,
  10. Architect was the late Ian Brown , who also drew up the design plans for the Fort Anne , he had some empathy with Manx architecture and he left some very fitting buildings and structures including the new snottty bridge at kewaigue which fits in remarkably well
  11. it was like being savaged by a wet lettuce , the only way to bring change is to fully embrace the challenge , roll your sleeves up and work at bringing change from the inside , it seems almost half the keys don't have a work ethic , will not serve in departments and don't even understand how government and the system works , which is why we have a raft of silly and meaningless questions every week trying to curry favour with the lazy media who give them inches in the local newspaper or airtime ,the Isle of Man is steadily going down the pan and unless these politicians start to work together for the good of us all then life here will not be worth living anymore

the man is no fool and a wealthy individual , its his money so give him a chance you might be surprised
  13. most popular route was the jersey European daily service started in Belfast , Isle of man London city finished in Jersey owned by Frank Walker , it was reliable and good value for money and the reverse route in the evening perfect for the business community coming home , Belfast passengers stayed on the Aircraft , we could do with something like that again
  14. its not the ones who have been overpaid they should be looking at , its the ones who were paid to go that have cost serious money certain senior figures in government just disappeared , Mars was bad enough and cost government a fortune , and most of those jobs lost under mars have been reborn under another title ,
  15. be interesting to see who benefits from the isle of man government pension scheme as I understand it Manx radio MNH and even some people working for Hospice can qualify I stand to be corrected, but that is my understanding

    Teachers

Perhaps in the cold light of day they realised what an expensive back water they have finished up in especially if they are young and enjoy foreign holidays and a social life ,by the time you build the isle of man factor into the cost benefit/ living costs equation its a no brainer to live and work here , and you will never be able to afford a decent house
  17. anybody seen the 2024 TT programme yet ? road closing and opening times are apparently incorrect and it looks like were having 4 lap sidecar races , whats the bet there will be an expensive recall , obviously someone has not proof read the final draft before it went off to the printers ,
  18. they could be even more successful if they did better deals on the fares , the old steam packet management had a whole raft of special offers to tempt passengers to travel , particularly in the shoulder months , better to have the manxman with a decent capacity than sail in with a dozen cars and a hand full of people its more visitors we want, better for the hospitality industry and everyone else trying to scratch a living in retail

    Period Poverty

there are sanitary products available already in the secondary schools ,and any young women requiring them only has to ask , and yes there are female teachers and assistants who issue them and in a discrete manner I don't see why we require legislation for this
  20. if you opened them up to the public so people could come into Douglas to shop and enjoy hospitality sector they would probably generate more than £350,000 in VAT the lack of parking and access is slowly killing off the city,
  21. question is were they given a government grant ,and if so who did the due diligence ,? was this a safe option for the construction sector following government involvement , and financially where do we go from here ?

if you want to a certain pub in Peel with your wife and 2 kids , the same meal you had the week previously would cost to around £27 more , they say the hospitality trade is struggling but increases in prices like this are ridiculous perhaps thats why the pub in question is named after a certain robber , ?
  23. there is talk of them wasting money putting a splash fountain down there which in fairness will only be used for a couple of months in the year , it needs to be proper sturdy all year round play equipment down there not some councillors wet pipe dream , the old equipment was well used and very sadly missed by the children who enjoyed playing there
  24. but they are eating out , just look into the government office canteen or the one at Nobles hospital some having bacon and egg bab for breakfast or a really good lunch and all at prices subsidised , excellent choice of food really well prepared , you only have to look at some of the obese civil servants and nurses to see how they are living off the fat of the land , imagine the size some of them would be if they dined out every night as well
  25. there has to be a compromise somewhere , it would be better to get the developer and the planners around the table and come up with a scheme that is acceptable otherwise its going to hold up the development of the whole of the North quay right up to Quine's corner up for years ,and the acrimony will just put any potential investors in the island off someone has to start to dig this problem out of the hole !
