  1. interesting.... . A single coal-fired power plant in China's Sichuan province now emits more CO2 ( “ food for plants”) than the entire developed world combined, completely cancelling out all the sacrifices you are being forced to make in the ludicrous pursuit of Net Zero.
  2. Just as scotland abandon their net zero plans. We're always so far behind the curve its laughable. Get our own house in order then we can think about things like this - as many have said, our contribution to emmissions doesnt even register, yet we're throwing silly money at it. I realise its a collective responsibility, but around the world governments are waking up to the fact that you cannot just go from a to b without eye watering investment, and at present nobody has the answer. Whats lost on many of the hard core environmentallists is the fact that current solutions in many cases produce more emissions to get to the stage of reducing emmissions that the whole green revolution is laughable.
  3. Despite this, the planning officer said that proposals are 'deemed to give rise to a positive impact upon the character and appearance of the wider Conservation Area by redeveloping a prominent gap site, whilst further providing increased employment opportunity and additional serviced tourist accommodation, to the benefit of the local economy'. The irony is clearly lost on these people
  4. but why would something in such a poor state (salvageable or not) and looking like shit need to be saved? Its all very well banging on about heritage, but when it adds absolutely zero either historically or aesthetically then what is the point? We need to let go of this notion that just because somethings old its worth saving. It fucking isnt and douglas is a shit hole full of similarly shitty old buildings decaying before our eyes.
  5. And so begins the latest 'scandal' surrounding the totally corrupt Manx system.
  6. didnt the fuckers knock down a building on woodbourne road for tenuos reasons, while this eyesore will be with us for years to come. They really are fucking us all over every minute of every day.
  7. Apaprt from those that have never been out of the north.
  8. Given everything seems to be bad news I thought I'd start a good news section, although I dont actually have any good news at the moment, but maybe somebody has...............
  9. 'discipline could have an effect on public services' what a grade A prick this guy is. No mention of the constant fuck ups resulting in massive overspend....lets fuck over the tax payers yet again.
  10. according to the poll 38 would consider leaving and 22 wouldnt, although there have been 73 votes cast 🤪
  11. I dont think IOM and the UK are too far apart in a lot of respects (ie imo both going down the tubes), I would imagine those considering leaving the IOM wouldnt be aiming for the UK - or I might be wrong.
  12. could go on forever, but it does say considering, so I guess covers a few options.
  13. Its a simple question and theres no need for any arguments, just curious!
  14. and on this point, wife who has a supplementary Amex on my account, tried to apply last night and was turned down as doesnt live in UK.
  15. They dont matter, because the only law that would make that happen is one that forces them to issue cards to iom residents - obv never gonna happen. The banks cant do enough to put retail punters off using them for banking services, do you honestly think that if the way was smoothed for them to offer cards to you and I they would? I really dont see it happening, too small a market.
