  1. It's not a Brutalist Design, it is better than that, it may have had influence from that school but the Sea Terminal is totally unique. It is a building that should be cherished and maintained properly, IIRC the Asbestos was removed a while ago. It should be protected and the tacky additions sripped back, NOT added too with railings and more closing in of the space under the "Crown" to give it its proper place in the island's history with its unique design.
  2. I very much doubt it is worth more than the Sea Terminal but the fact remains that IOMG NEED to put offices outside Douglas for the benefit of the whole island. ................................................... We seem to have accepted that IOMG will be the biggest, by far employer, of "Non Economically Wise Persons" so we have to put the "B stream" somewhere. To make the island's CS unemployed would crash the Ponzi Economy that we scratch by with. Stick a couple of thousand of them in Ramsey and then we will see the benefit of extra footfall in the shops and Cafes in Ramsey. Stick a couple of thousand of them in Castletown and again see the benefit of extra footfall in the shops and Cafes in Castletown, it may even keep the outside toilets open. Stick a couple of thousand of them in Peel and we will see, well nothing probably, but you get my general point.
  3. If the whole building was stripped of its architectural "additions" (It is one of the very few buildings on the island that should be on some form of protection register) which totally ruin the look of the place, it could easily go back to being a transport hub with a destination restaurant on the round bit. kitchens on the floor below along with offices for the main bit which would be a bus station/ transport hub. The current bus depot at Banks circus could be sold to Tesco and the area needed to park buses at night etc given over to a spot on Cooil Rd somewhere up Braddan Everybody wins apart from a few/ sorry lots of DOI air wasters in there that cant walk into town at lunchtime.
  4. Exactly, collecting a small neighbouring area for a fee seems like a good use of resources. Santon residents don't have to pay for all the Big City add ons remember so they have low rates. I really struggle with this whole argument. If you want low rates live out of town/ City and pay for commuting If you want everything near to you that you need live in a town/ City and save on the commute.
  5. I think that is just doi that don't plan. They don't even know what they own that needs maintaining I was told by a gov, non DOI employee
  6. Be even better to type up some envelopes with someone else's name / address and put them in the bin
  7. I have 3 Black Labs, I would bet there is not a bus driver in the world, never mind the island that could tell them apart. I can save at least £10.00 over the next couple of years, ..................................party on.
  8. Or you let a private business that will contribute taxes to the island build their pool and stop being Crabby about anyone/ any business trying to make a profit. You do not throw £1 mill plus of taxpayers money at a lost cause
  9. Soft Douglas Sh1ts In Jurby we have Alligator's, Hippos and them small Kangaroo things eating out of our bins. All sorts of things that have escaped the Wild Life Park over the years and has been hushed up. That red bear thing that died recently, what a twat, he would come into your house and curl one out while looking you straight in the eye, Cute? Cu7t...
  10. But that means undercutting private business with rates that are quite clearly unprofitable in a commercial sense. £10 FOR A RIDE FROM THE NORTH TO THE AIRPORT IS NOT A COMMERCIAL RATE. It is just fucking wrong on all sorts of levels.
  11. If they cant even get the airport parking right what hope here? The uk medical outfit that is providing all these extra operations, I don't remember their name - Has this work been tendered? £18 Million of work, has it been tendered by Manx Care? If not, why not and if not, this is a serious scandal.
  12. Did I hear correctly on the radio today when Alf said that the teachers would not be paid next time they go on strike, for the days not worked?............ WTAF - That means we are paying/ have been paying them, when they are on strike up to now?? Since when has that been a thing? Filed along with other "Too Hard To Do" stuff in the IOM CS book of rules and regs? You could not make this shit up, even if off your tits on coke or booze.
  13. And what actual use does that provide you with other than being an "Informed Crab" FFS
