When Skies Are Grey
Uefa to ban debt ridden clubs from European Competition How about spending time sorting out the racism first...... David Taylor says "In some countries like Germany and Switzerland, stronger requirements are put on clubs in terms of bank guarantees and having no negative equity. These are the models we have to look at." Oh really....bank guarantees you say....worth the paper they are written on these days???
manxman8180
It's just another bat to attack the British clubs with. I don't particularly like what has happened in British football lately, debts, foreign owners etc. However, I detest Blatter et al, even more. Platini is just as bad. Real Madrid must have the worst balance sheet of all clubs (although underwriiten by the Spanish govt / banking system) and yet nothing is mentioned when they were at the top of their game. Anyway, I believe it's all hot air. Ban Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U from Europe? Uefa would be on it's arse overnight. As healthy as an Icelandic bank...... Visionary
Good god, we might have consider Liverpool as genuine title contenders now! Even as a die hard red i wouldn't get exited yet, we beat United then drew at home to Stoke remember, so a result at home to Portsmouth on Wednesday is essential to keep momentum! If we are still playing well and picking up points against the other big 3 come Feb/Mar then i will get exited! Do seem to be playing well though, and our two best results without Torres! Just had too many false dawns before, plus we have our stupid yank owners to cause friction should we do well just to unsettle us (champions league anyone?) Lonan3
It's unfortunate that most contributors seem to think that the premiership consists of 4 clubs, and that it's therefore okay to post items about the European escapades in this thread. As someone whose club is languishing at the foot of League 2 and therefore has no particular axe to grind, I find the most interesting items about the Premiership are to be found in, for example, the stunning beginning made by Hull City; the way that Stoke City, from being an odds-on bet for relegation, suddenly appear to be coping with life in the fast lane; the way that 'Big Fat Joe' seems to have changed the fortunes of Newcastle United, and whether the Spurs revival is genuine or temporary. K.os Theory
Temporary hopefully. I hate spurs...Don't know why it's one of those illogical hatreds that I suppose most supporters have... It does look though that Joe is doing something right a SJP but it could all change again if and when we get sold...Keegan to return for a third stint? I don't know how I'd feel about that... When Skies Are Grey
Whilst the preening "superstars" of the premier league still bleat and moan about their millionaire lifestyles its sometimes easy to forget the grass roots of football.... Its the first round proper of the FA Cup this weekend...with the likes of Barrow, Ebbsfleet and Gainsborough Trinity all dreaming of Wembley....good luck
